"Here it is! My cave!" Said Fern.
"It's high, but I think we can jump on those rocks." Said Katie.
"Exactly." Said Fern, as he jumped on a rock.
Katie followed after Fern, rock after rock. There were only four, though. Then they walked into the cave.
"Cozy, right?" Said Fern, as he lit a match.
Fern put the fire in some lanterns.
"This is great!" Said Katie.
There was a table and two chairs carved out of wood, a leaf bed in another section of the cave, a firefly jar, and some pebbles.
"What are the rocks for?" Asked Katie.
"Carving wood and making things." Said Fern. "One time I made an axe, then a fire burned it."
"How many fires have you had?"
"Three."
Katie's jaw dropped. Three fires? It must have done a bunch of damage to the forest!
"I'll go get something to eat." Said Fern. "Why don't you fix your boat?"
"Sure." Said Katie. "I'll fix my boat."

Katie never wanted to go back, but didn't want to leave her friend, Fern, alone. There were other cats on the island, but maybe Katie was a best friend to Fern.
"I found some Brown-Whites and some Seed-Berries!" Said Fern.
"Do you mean Coconuts and Strawberries?" Asked Katie.
"Never heard of it." Said Fern. "Anyways, here is your bowl!"
"Thanks." Said Katie.
Katie ate many of the Strawberries. She was very hungry, and was hungry after, so she used a rock to scrape some of the coconut off.
When Fern came back it was moonrise. But now, the moon is a little higher in the air.
"It's night." Said Fern. "You have to stay here tonight."
"I don't have bedding." Said Katie. "What do I sleep on?"
"You can sleep in my bed." Said Fern "I'll sleep on the floor."
"Okay!" Said Katie as she walked into the bedroom. "Good night, Fern."
"Good night, Katie." Said Fern.
