"Fire!" Yelled the Shadow-Shifter. "And you're just a bunch of cotton candy!"
The Shadow-Shifter walked towards Katie. She never noticed, but on one hand, he had a gauntlet.
"You're next." Said the Shadow-Shifter.
Before the Shadow-Shifter punched her, Katie put her hand in a high-fiving position. She saw a flash of light, and in front of her palm, there was a new yellow spot by the back fur of the Shadow-Shifter. Katie put down her hand.
It was fire.
The guards stared at either Katie or the burning Shadow-Shifter. The shadow furred cat ran out of the castle, with the guards following him.
"Thank you." Said King Calico. "I owe you something, but what?"
Katie looked around.
"That throne."
She remembered that there was supposed to be four cats on four thrones, not three cats on four thrones. The moons and stars on all the thrones glittered in the rain. Fern started talking.
"But that's the-"
"Go ahead." Said Queen Sapphire. "It's yours."
Katie went over and sat on the smaller moon throne. It felt very soft, softer than the softest thing Katie had ever felt, which was a hard pillow.
"A legend said two cats will harness elements from light and dark." Said King Calico. "You should be going."
"But where?" Asked Fern. "Can't we stay here?"
"You can." Said the queen. "But you need to get going to get more elements. You could practice here, too."
"Okay then." Said Fern. "Can you send us a-"
A cloud went into the castle.
"Thanks." Said Fern. "See you later!"
"Let's go to the next island!" Said Fern.
"But we don't have a boat." Said Katie. "Where will we get a new one?"
The cloud speeded over to Katie.
"Thanks!" Said Katie.
Fern walked over and got onto the cloud.
"Let's go to an unknown island!" Yelled Fern.
The cloud was fast, as normal clouds were. It went past the split up island with the cat, and stopped at an unknown island.
"Thanks!" Said Katie.
Katie walked onto the island. There were strong winds blowing her to the left, but Katie could see something ahead of her.
"This is bad weather." Said Fern. "Maybe we should go back, or find some shelter."
"Look! A building"
Katie and Fern walked over to the building. The winds were strong, so they tried going slowly through it.
"Almost there." Said Katie. "Keep going."
When they reached the building, they quickly went inside. The place was full of many cats creating almost whatever that want out of many craft items.
"Welcome!" Said a cat. "Take some materials and make whatever."
Katie saw a golden cat making some pottery with a pottery wheel. A calico cat was making a fishing pole out of some sticks and the part of a kite you hold on to. Some kits were paw-painting and it looked like they painted a tree.
"Well, what do you want to create? Your friend wants to carve wood."
Katie saw Fern with a knife carving some wood. He was a little slow at carving, but Katie thought if he could carve a chair, he could carve anything.
"How about pottery?" Asked Katie.
"You can," Said the cat, "but we only have two pottery wheels, so you'll have to wait for one cat to get off."
One cat by a pottery wheel was making a cat piggy bank. They were almost done, because all they needed to add was the slit. The cat grabbed a knife and cut a hole into the bank.
"All finished!" Said the brown cat. "Now all I have to do is put this in the kiln. You can take my spot."
Katie took the cat's spot and put some clay on the wheel. She decided either to make a bowl, or to make something like a big painted rock. Katie shaped the clay into something that looked like the moon stone from the split island. A flat disc with thick, round sides. Katie painted what looked like the night sky, but it was a landscape of a grassland. She then thought to paint the other side a morning grassland, half of the round part a sunrise, and half of the round part a sunset. It looked like all the skies combined into a pretty sight. Katie walked back to the cat who welcomed her.
"Where's the kiln?" She asked.
"It's on the top floor." Said the cat. "Take the ladder. The elevator is..."
The cat stopped.
"Is what?"
"Is broken." Said the cat. "Just don't go there."
"Okay then," Said Katie, and she walked away to the ladder.
Katie ascended to the top of the building. Around the blue room, there were boxes around the place with a kiln in the middle. Katie walked up to the kiln and placed the disc in it.
"What should I do next?" Asked Katie.
And she had an idea, but it was a risk.
