Seniors in high school. Thats what grade Rye and Andy were in now. Three whole school years that Andy and Rye couldve spent together but no thats just not how it worked. Rye had spent his tenth and eleventh grade year dating girl after girl. Sometimes he'd even date multiple girls at a time.
When asked by the girls after finding out about the other why he would do it Rye would always laugh and shrug. He'd stare right into their eyes and tell them "sharing is great" then laugh at their angered faces. Basically, Rye turned into a "manwhore".
Andy on the other hand had become a complete different person. Andy had become "the gay best friend" to almost every girl in the school. Andy had tradded in his baggy joggers for skinny jeans.
He dyed his hair a brighter blond and got a nose piercing. He and Rye had drifted apart after freshman year. They hadn't been to eachothers house in forever. They hadn't called eachother their childhood nicknames in forever.
They hadn't cuddled or kissed eachothers cheeks in forever. They hadn't had any contact with each other besides glancing toward each other in the halls. It was lunch time now and Andy was skipping it. He didn't want to sit with the girls and talk about 'cute boys'.
The only 'cute boy' Andy wanted left him. Andy found a tree outside and sat under it breathing in the fresh air. Its been a while since Andy had time to himself. He'd get bombarded by his "friends",who probably wouldn't even be his friends if he wasn't gay.
Many girls always wanted a gay bestfriend and could still be homophobic and he didn't believe that at first, but here he was, A gay boy with female friends who were discriminative to lesbians. It wasnt just the females he needed a break from, it was also his bestfriends he needed a break from.
Everyone in his little friend circle were now in relationships with eachother. Jack and Brook started dating at the end of freshmen year. Harper had asked Sonny to be his boyfriend last year and Mikey started dating Harvey, a guy they met last year.
Andy was the only one without a boyfriend and he just felt left out being with them. He wanted everything to go back to normal. He wanted to be at his house, cuddled up with Rye and singing along to every song in Moana.
He wanted to have a family dinner with his family and Ryes. He wanted to fall asleep I'm Rye's bed cuddled into Rye's arms while he played with his hair. Andy wanted Rye back but he can't because he was too chicken to express his feelings and Rye wanted to sleep with every girl in the school and he wasn't a girl.
"Hey fovvs" Harper said making Andy look up. Harper saw the tears building up in his eyes already knowing his reason for being upset.
Rye had left Andy without a warning leaving everyone confused and Andy heartbroken. He sat down next to Andy and wrapped an arm around him. Andy layed his head on Harpers shoulder and let his tears flow free.
Rye wasn't happy. He wasn't happy with himself. He didnt want to date so many girls but he did. Why? He would ask himself everyday knowing he himself didnt know the answer. Rumors going around that he sleeps with every girl he dates which was a lie.
He never sleeps with any of them because he couldn't take his mind off of Andy. The girls always started rumors about him sleeping with them and dumping them after because he would break up with them after only being with them for two weeks or less.
He really misses his little petal so much it kills him. He wanted to apologize until he lost his voice. He wanted to get on his knees and beg him to forgive him. He wanted to hug him so tight and shower his face with kisses. He wanted to hear his cute giggle and watch his gorgeous smile and dimples appear.
Rye wanted Andy back but he was too scared to talk to him again fearing that Andy hated him and besides, he probably thought he was a "manwhore" like everyone else did. Rye sighed putting his head down on the table.
His new girlfriend, Regan, put her head on his shoulder and rubbed his back. Regan was the first girlfriend he had that he actually enjoyed being around. She had a certain way about her that you could open up about everything and she would listen intently then she'd give you the best advice she was truly amazing but she wasn't Andy.
He had told her about Andy but he didn't tell her about his feelings toward him, even though he had a feeling she knew. He leaned up and smiled at her and getting one in return. He looked at the people who were sitting at the table.
Only containing three people which were Regan, and surprisingly Zach and Hannah. Hannah had started dating Zach after the Valentine's day dance. It turns out, they weren't bad people at all. They were actually really funny and awesome to be around.
Rye had befriended them in tenth grade. They were very disappointed in Rye's dating life but they didn't say anything it was his life after all. Lunchtime was over and it was time for the last class of the day.
I felt like such a long day and Rye was ready to go home and sleep forever. Rye hated and loved this class because Andy was in it but he also hated it because he was so close to Andy but still couldn't man up and talk to him. Rye walked into the class early.
The only other person there was the love of his life Andrew Fowler. The stared at eachother for a while before Andy broke eye contact. He was sitting there looking beautiful as ever even with dried tear tracks on his cheeks. Rye's heart hurt thinking about Andy crying.
He wanted to hug him tight and never let him go but he had to ruin everything just because he didn't want to admit his feelings for him too scared of rejection from the small blond. Rye remembered Adam telling him that Andy would feel the same but would he? Would he really love him as much as he loved him?
Rye was scared of take the chance of opening up to get shut down so he didn't. He couldn't. He wouldn't. A few minutes later, the rest of the class had filed in and class begun.
"I want you to partner up and do this packet and if you dont finish, find a way to do it because its due tomorrow" Mrs. Benson said causing the class to groan and move to find their partners. "Rye who's your partner?" Mrs. Benson said stoping at his desk and handing him a packet.
"I dont have one miss" rye said shrugging. "Who doesnt have a partner" she asked and three people raised their hands. "Okay Clara, you partner with James and Andy, you partner with Rye" Mrs. Benson said before passing out the rest of the packets.
Rye's heart was racing. He hadn't talked to Andy since freshman year and he was freaking out. Andy sat in the chair next to Rye looking down at his hands. Rye decided now was better than ever so he coughed getting Andy's attention before saying a small "hey".
Andy gave him a small smile and said "hi" in his soft raspy voice that Rye loved oh so much. "It looks like we wont be finishing this in class,so why don't you come to my house after school. I know the twins are dying to see you and mom is too" Rye said making Andy smile even wider thinking about seeing his second family again.
"Okay" he said smiling largely at Rye. For right now he decided to forget about Rye basically abandoning him with no explaination what so ever. He was just glad that his bestfriend was actually talking to him for the first time in three years.
