Jessie was in big trouble for doing that to Brianna.

She literally went up to her and slapped her in the face. I would've paid good money to see that!

Jessie was banned from going to town at the weekend which was really annoying as we'd planned a day out shopping together. Oh well, I guess it'll have to wait till next weekend.

Along with that, Brianna got the whole year to send me to coventry. Yeah, me. I can't help it that Jessie is a bit over protective of me.

Sending people to coventry is a punishment that we give to each other when someone has done something wrong. Well I say that we give it to each other, but I mean the popular girls with high status like Brianna and her followers decide on who to send to coventry. And if she tells you to send someone to coventry, you don't argue. You just don't. Last time someone stood up to Brianna and humiliated her, she made that poor girl's life absolute hell.

Her name was Kirsty and she was Brianna's favourite person to pick on. Kirsty normally flushed red and tried to ignore it, staying calm. But one day Brianna went too far and Kirsty decided she'd had enough. Good for her, you might think. No. She will regret that decision for her whole life.

Brianna had seen the locket around Kirsty's neck and asked to look. She complied, of course because who in their right minds would argue with Brianna? Brianna then 'accidentally' dropped it and then apparently couldn't see it and trod on it. Shattering the necklace along with the poor girl's sanity.

That necklace was a gift from her dead mother. She got it on her birthday last year, the day before her mum died.

Kirsty gawped at the shards of glass and silver on the floor and leapt at Brianna.

It was a typical girl fight: tugging of hair, vicious scratching and slapping each other endlessly. Miss Brown (our head of year) walked in and pulled the two apart and practically dragged them out of the room followed by everyone's nosy stares.

Kirsty looked broken. She was trembling with heaving sobs and she couldn't utter a single word. She was as white as a sheet and wouldn't take her eyes off of her destroyed necklace lying helplessly on the carpet.

That wasn't even the worst part. That was the beginning of the end for Kirsty. She was endlessly tormented by Brianna and her minions. They'd go out of their way to make her life miserable. I can't even say what they did to her that made her finally leave. It's too despicable to even put into words. All you need to know is that Kirsty Blackman is not coming back to Westcastle anytime soon. Or ever for that matter.

Walking down the corridor to brekkie (everyone calls it that here as we're all way too posh), everyone hushes as I walk past them. Conversations pause and everyone turns away from me. I won't give them the satisfaction of being annoyed.

I join the queue with Jessie by my side glaring at everyone around us.
"Stop it." I hiss.
"What?"
"You're making a scene!"
"No, they are." She continues to shoot the surrounding girls daggers. I sigh wearily, Jessie doesn't get it, does she?

I take a buttery croissant, a small pot of yogurt and a glass of orange juice. Jessie goes for a stack of pancakes and two rashers of bacon. She doesn't get why I'm a veggie, it's not that I'm some hippy who is preaching to save animals and all that, I just don't like meat.

We sit down at a table with Zoe and Daisy who look uneasy, peering anxiously over there shoulders.
"Are you guys for real?"
"What are you talking about?" Zoe mumbles, keeping her head down.
"You're ashamed of being friends with us aren't you?" I'm glad she says 'us' like whoever hates me automatically hates her too.
"Wha- no!" Daisy blurts out a little too quickly.
I'm offended that they're acting like this, but I don't want to make a big deal out of it, I just want to have a quiet breakfast without too much drama. But I guess that's too much to ask for at a boarding school for girls. Especially Westcastle.
"Let's go." I plead, tugging at Jessie's sleeve. I can't believe they're doing this! Zoe and Daisy are just as bad as everyone else, easily manipulated by Brianna. Rachel would put stop to this easily, she can't stand bullies.
"No. They can go seeing as they're embarrassed to be with us." Oh god, now everyone is staring at us. Zoe and Daisy storm out of the dining hall and the room erupts into conversation. I can hear little snippets of gossip from all directions all about me. Great, I just love rumours being spread about me! What a great start to the day.

The rest of the day is pretty tiresome. I'm used to being ostracised like this so it's not affecting me like it used to. People find it absolutely hilarious ignoring me though. Yeah, haha you're acting like I don't exist, how original! I wish I was as funny as you! What do they expect? A bloody medal? It doesn't bother me though, honest. I have much more important things to worry about like our physics test tomorrow and Rachel's memorial next week. I still haven't prepared my speech. She'd tell me to just wing it and hope for the best. I wish she was still here to motivate me.
