I ran straight to my dad's 'office' after school, determined to save Ellie. I race down corridors and take the lift down three floors into the basement. I can't be too late. I can't be.

I'm so stupid. Why did I help him find them?

I race onwards until I see the right room. I scrabble with the code, rushing frantically, panicking due to the eerie silence. Unlocking the door I burst in and there she is, except this isn't the Ellie I knew.

Messy tangled of dirty hair shape her gaunt face, cheekbones jutting out like daggers. She looks the image of death, like she has been chewed up and spat out again by a malicious predator also known as my dad. A pool of blood surrounds her body, oozing the sticky substance.

She begins to shake, seizures racking through her body. Her body is finally giving up on her. No, I can't let this happen. I whip off my jacket and wrap it around her wound to stop the gushing of blood. She continues to shake, her head hitting the cold floor and I see her eyes open wide in pure terror. I try to soothe her but she doesn't seem to recognise me- what has he done to her?
