17. Alexander

I listen to Henry's message in amazement, how the hell did he end up with Geneva's brothers.  I take a quick look at the clock and work out I should just catch him before he leaves for the airport.

"Hi Alex, I take it you got my message" Henry says cheerfully and then explains about the meeting and meeting the Kingswood's and the outcome. I frown as he tells me about Hunter calling Geneva but realise that's in our favour.  As Henry tells me more I have to ask.

"And they are supportive?" I query.

"As long as we don't screw it up" he tells me with a laugh.  "Working on it but If you meet me at the airport, I was going to get a taxi but it would give you a chance to meet them" he says and I grin.

"Okay, what time is the plane due to land?"

"About 7am give or take" he tells me and I smile, knowing we can head straight back to Oxford from the airport.

"I'll be there" I promise.

"Nigel!" I call and he appears at the door. "I'm working from home tomorrow, can you redirect any calls and have we heard back from Ms Loxley?" 

"Yes sir, and I have had a response from Jayne on her behalf, accepting a meeting on Monday at 11am at the Club, both your calendars are free, so I have pencilled it in, they have also requested that James be present to go through equipment with Jayne" he tells me and I grin, with James there to distract Jayne, we can focus on Geneva.

"Good, make sure that morning is kept clear and let James know, and Nigel, confirm the meeting back to them and then you can go"

"Sir?" I look up and see Nigel looking at me in astonishment.

"What?"

"I can go?" he repeated sounding surprised.

"Yes Nigel, confirm the meeting, then go home, I will talk to you tomorrow" I tell him and he nods.

"Thank you sir, and... Sir, have a good evening" he says backing out of the room.

I sit back and go over what just happened in my mind, was I really that bad that Nigel reacted like that for me sending him off home before I left the building.

The following morning I am waiting in the private arrival lounge  for Henry, I had looked up Maxwell and Hunter Kingswood and knew a little more about them, determined that they would not be a barrier to us with Geneva, I had also asked Nigel to see if there are any events or charities that both their and our families are engaged in.  If we were looking for permanent then bringing the families together would help that.

"Alex" I look up at the call and see Henry with Geneva's brothers heading for me.

As Henry makes the introductions, I observe the two, I can see the family resemblance in each face and wonder how Geneva manages to work without people seeing the connection.

"Lets grab a coffee and have a quick chat" Maxwell suggests and Henry nods for both of us, waving the waitress over and giving her our order as I silently observe them watching me.

"Don't hurt her" Hunter says with no warning and I feel myself bristle, till Henry puts his hand on my arm and I calm.

"We have no intention of hurting her, in fact I think she had more chance of hurting us" I retort, but Maxwell shakes his head at me.

"We've told your brother and I'm sure he will share it with you but Geneva is not as strong as she like to portray to the world, she's scared of getting hurt again and it's made her build a shell to protect herself.  Crack that shell with care, she could break as easily as she could come out whole"

We pause as the waitress delivers our drinks and then the topic is the island, keeping the rest of our chat business orientated till its time to go and the Kingswood's get up 

Max shaking our hands as he says "Our driver is here, we should meet up again, its been interesting meeting you"

Henry laughs "I'm sure"

"You have our contact details, we will be keeping an eye on Gen, but... good luck, much as I hate to say it, you may be good for her" Hunter offers before they leave.

Once they've gone I look at Henry, waiting for him to tell me more.

"Come on, i'll tell you everything in the car" he grins.

"Did you get their names?" I question once he has shared the information the twins gave him about Geneva.

"They wouldn't tell me, just said the parents had dealt with it, but I am sure we can find out with a little digging, I will get Grant to see what he can find" Henry says and I grin.

"He needs to find out before Monday, we are meeting her at the club in the morning" I tell him and watch his grin form.

"She is going to be mad as hell, especially if her brothers talk to her" I warn him but Henry shakes his head.

"No, I don't think she will, when I told her I had suggested her for the island design, she was surprised and the fact I recommended her when her brothers did not even consider her, that's in our favour.  if they speak to her, they know what we want, I think they may help us"

"She is their little sister" I remind him.

"Alex relax, we have a lot of things going for us, we don't need her money, we don't need her family name, we understand how unconventional relationships work, and we are in business with some the family through the island anyway" he replies and I relax a little.

"I hope you are right" I tell him and my thoughts turn to Geneva for the rest of the journey.
