I sit back in the chair and watch as my mystery woman leaves the room, stopping briefly to speak to Elizabeth Townsend, the owner, before exchanging a hug with her and then she's gone, and the room feels flat.
When I had seen her at the bar, I had been drawn to her, a reaction I cannot every remember having to any woman before, though there are many who would want that. But she had remained a mystery, she had not gushed about herself, she had not recognised me, she hadn't even tried to find out who I was, and I was intrigued.
I headed for Elizabeth who was now at the bar "Congratulations Lizzy, this is wonderful" I say, greeting her with the customary air kisses.
"Henry, I'm so glad you could come, is Alex with you?" she asked looking around but I shook my head.
"Not today, he is in New York on business" I reply and she looks disappointed, her brother had been at school with Alex and she had always had a thing for him.
"Say who was the girl I saw you with just now, she looks familiar and I cannot place her" I ask nonchalantly whilst waving to another acquaintance across the room.
"Oh, you mean Geneva, she was my interior designer, didn't she do a wonderful job of making my ideas come true" she told me claiming the transformation, and I smiled to myself, finally a name.
"Indeed, the place looks wonderful, does she only do hotels, I know my Mother is looking for a designer to do the flat in town" I praise whilst digging for more information.
"I'm not sure, but I will send you her details, She goes by Geneva Loxley, I believe she quite busy but I'm sure she would make an exception for your family" she gushes, eager to help me.
"Thank you, I can pass them onto Mother, now how is Grainger?" I ask changing the conversation to one I know she will shut down quickly as she hates her brother.
"He's doing okay, away with Simon at the moment" she sneers, her dislike of her brothers lifestyle choices clearly heard in her words. And then as expected, she looks behind me and makes her excuses.
"Oh, excuse me, I see someone, I must catch up with" she tells me, rushing away, not seeing my grin as she leaves. She gave me the information I wanted now, I just had to track down the mysterious Geneva.

I look at the screen in front of me and smile, seems like little Geneva was hiding as much as I was. It didn't take too much to dig beneath the Loxley name and find the real her, Geneva Kingswood, beloved second daughter of the unconventional Kingswood dynasty. The available images online only showed her within the family group and recently at her brothers wedding or attending a sporting event for the charity the family was involved in, no pictures of her with any man and none of her alone.
She obviously protected her privacy, but her office address just outside Oxford was also a bonus, she was perfectly placed for us.
I read again the details on her business website, no mention of the Kingswood name, she was trying to go it alone. I could respect that, my own parents were in a menage a trois relationship and occasion in the past it had been used to torment us but we were strong as a family, our parents made sure of it. I think about Geneva, my bond with Alex had led to us to talking about sharing a female before, not that it had ever worked previously, but my mind was drawn to putting her between us.
As the oldest son Alex was the heir apparent and that made the women we knew greedy. Add in the difficulty of each of our fathers having a line of succession with their own titles, the press often speculated on our family.
I wondered how I can get her into our lives, our titles and wealth would not be a draw for her, and I know I had seen her interest in me but she had resisted at the hotel, would Alex fare any better.
Recently our mom and the dads were worried with Alex's attitude and they had given us the Oxford club as a distraction, maybe that could be the hook, it's not that different from a hotel. If I could persuade Alex to agree to a refurb, we could hire her. After all it was where mom met dad for the first time.
I close my eyes and remember the feeling of her lips under mine, the soft promise of uncharted heat. I groaned to myself, thinking about her was torture.
Returning to her website, I filled in the online enquiry, giving the details of Alex's PA Nigel as contact. I didn't want to scare her off just yet, just to set up a meeting. I typed out a quick email to Nigel to warn him and to give him instruction about what I wanted him to do. Before closing the computer down and heading for bed.
Tomorrow I would chase down Alex and get him to agree, if he wanted to or not.
