I can feel Hunter and Max's eyes on me, as they come into the room, but I stay curled up into the sofa, the chat with Mom had made me both feel better, yet also conflicted. Dare I take a chance.

I had been avoiding the twins calls since they returned from New York, luckily for me, with Lily feeling ill, and Gaia teething, they had been too busy with their family to come after me, but my luck had run out and as Max pulled me into a hug, I knew the next conversation was going to be a difficult one.

With Mom gone, Hunter perched on the coffee table and squeezed my hand.

"Gen, i'm sorry, I had no right to shout at you like that" Hunter said.

"Its fine" I tell him, keeping my head down.

"No, its not, and Henry was right to suggest you, I've given Tristan your office details, Henry, he showed us the designs you've done for the club, and its made me realise..."
"Both of us" Max butted in.

"Both of us realise, you're no longer just our little sister, but a professional business woman and so very talented. And we want to say we are proud of you" he finishes and as I take in his words the tears start flowing.

"Hey, come on, we're not that bad, stop crying or i'm calling for Mom" Max mutters sounding panicked as I melt down, in his arms.
"Gen?" Hunter questions and I shake my head.

"Is it Henry, Alex, have they done something?" Max asks and again I just shake my head.
"You're proud of me" I gasp out on a sob and they both laugh, sounding relieved.
"Yes, we are proud of you" Hunter laughs, "God, I hadn't realised telling you that would break you" he mutters and I smile through the tears.

"You met Henry" I state and they both look at me.
"And Alex" Max tells me and I stare in surprise.
"How?"
"Alex met us at the airport, Henry gave us a lift back on their jet, it gave us time to get to know him" Hunter explains and I bite my lip nervously.

"What did he tell you?" I ask softly.
"That they are interested in a relationship with you, both of them and that they understand you need some time but they won't give you up" Max watches my face as he says the words.

I shiver, it was the same promise they gave me.
"What did you say back?" I question, knowing how protective my brothers can be.
"That there was nowhere they could hide if they hurt you" Hunter grins and I shake my head.

"Do you think they will... after Robert..." I ask softly, and Max hugs me again before replying.
"Robert was a weasel, he was easily led and lazy, he used you to get an easy ride, from what I have seen of Henry and Alex, they have none of those traits, but they are dominant men and you will invariably clash with them, but I get the feeling they would always take a hit to prevent you ever getting hurt"

I pull out of Max's hold and sit back, taking a deep breath to centre myself before changing the subject.
"Tell me about the island" I ask and they do.

The rest of the weekend is full of family and laughter, but I can feel the tension steadily grow as I drove back to Oxford ready for our Monday meeting. Jayne was waiting for me at the office and we reviewed all the information again before packing it ups and heading to the club.

"Ms Loxley, please go on up, can I carry anything for you?" the uniformed doorman was in place and welcomed us.

"No. its fine" I croaked out embarrassed and Jayne just grinned at me.

James is waiting at the top of the stair for us, taking the charts from Jayne and giving her a quick peck on the cheek which had her blushing hard as I watched in amazement. I knew she had been working with him on the equipment but maybe with my head in avoidance mode I had missed the signs that she had connected with James more personally.

"This way" James guided us through to their office and my heart raced as I followed him down the familiar corridor towards the oak door and them...
