I looked up at Austin. His ocean blue eyes met mine and saw the absolute confusion I had just witnessed. I flipped my phone around and showed him.
"...Do you think it-"
"I don't think it is Ash. I mean people try and pull shit like this all the time."
I texted the number back.
Ash: My Dad left me when I was 5. This is just a scam.
Unknown: Ashlyn Rose Adams. I'm Scott Paul Adams and I am your father. I will prove it to you. You were born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 10th 1997 at 2:48am on a Thursday night. You weighed 8.3 pounds and you looked like a little bug. That's how you got your nickname, Ladybug. You're first word was "hi" and you constantly said it. You took your first steps when you were 2 and you did it all yourself.
Ash: I really want to belive you right now but something is telling me not to.
"Austin, I don't know what to do." I whispered with tears in my eyes.
"Babe... just dont text it back. Let's enjoy the rest of our night."
I set my phone down and contined to eat my food. Austin reached over the table and held my hand.
"It's just a sick joke Ash. Ok? I promise you will be better off without whoever is talking to you."
"I know, it's just... that scares me. Like what if that is really my dad? But its probably like some crazy stalker or some shit."
"You're better off..."
