Chapter 15

"No, Boo!" Bowser watched in horror, the remains of his best partner drooping to the ground. "Ah, shit! Come back!"

"What do we do now?" Toad questioned, his tone calm and even. He was trying not to panic. This hysteria was hard to control. Boo had always given him and his comrades trouble, and now he was dead...

"...There's only four of us..." Rosalina noted, glancing around at everyone. "We need to find the mafia...Right now."

"I...I'm so sorry, guys!" Luigi panicked, his eyes shifting around the room in fear. "I have no idea who it is, and I'm scared, and I don't want to die. I'm so useless!"

"Calm down, Luigi," Toad told him, somewhat recovering from the death of everyone he'd ever loved. At least he still had Rosalina and Luigi, he told himself. They weren't going to go anywhere. "You're not useless. You're not going to die, we're going to be okay."

"How do you know!?"

"...Look at everyone around you," Toad told them. "We're all firmly on the side of good. The only person who was ever evil is Bowser. Isn't it obvious?"

"What-I've changed my ways! Besides, I wouldn't want to kill Boo, or anyone that died," Bowser frowned. He accusingly pointed a finger at Luigi. "It's obviously him, guys. Look at how nervous he is!"

"Me? It's not me!" Luigi narrowed his eyes at his brother's ex-nemesis. However, unlike Toad, he didn't think it was Bowser. "No, you know who I think it is? I think it's Toad! You're being so accusatory!"

"Me!? I'm just trying to find the murderer!" Toad protested, shocked that Luigi would make such a suggestion. "I'm being logical! Someone had to do it, and I can't see Rosalina or Luigi killing someone! Tell me, Luigi, why the hell would I kill Toadette!? Why would I kill Mario?"

"...You know what, Rosalina's being awfully quiet about all of this," Bowser suddenly narrowed his eyes. "Aren't the silent ones always the nasty ones?"

"You think it's Rosalina...? Not this again!" Toad sighed. He was fed up with the constant arguing of 'whodunit'. "What would her motive even be!? None of us have a motive except you!"

"Okay, let's just think about things for a moment!" Bowser interrupted, frustrated from yelling all of the time. "We all have reasons to be suspicious. We need to figure out who it is. So why don't we go around and ask questions? The murderer is bound to slip."

"Sure," Rosalina agreed. "Uh...Like what, though...?"

"I...I don't know!" Bowser was suddenly starting to understand why Mario was revered as such a successful leader. He took a deep breath, and composed himself before speaking again. "Okay. Let's instead take a look at our clues. While we don't know who was the actual cop, Yoshi found both Mario and Pauline non-suspicious. Dixie found that Toad was non-suspicious, and that Yoshi was a mafia. So maybe I've been accusing Toad for no reason..."

"Thank you!" Toad sighed a breath of relief. "But we don't actually know who was the cop. I guess it doesn't really matter... Pauline got Birdo killed, so that also proves that Yoshi was also right. There's still not really enough information to determine who the mafia was between the two..."

"So...We're still at square one," Bowser pointed out. Toad shook his head from side to side.

"No. Perhaps we're looking at the wrong thing. Maybe if we look at the people who were killed, we can figure it out."

"Maybe..."

"...I've figured out who it is!" Luigi suddenly exclaimed.

"Who!?" Everyone waited eagerly, desperately waiting to hear Luigi.

"Well, it's gotta be..."
