'The past always seems better when you look back on it than it it did at the time. And the present never looks as good as it will in the future'
Surely my favourite part of the book by far. It held a lot of meaning to me. I could say that I savoured the book, or at least I just read a couple of pages last night. But I would be completely lying.
I finished the book. Thomas wasn't wrong, it was gripping and thrilling. Still I prefer my 18th century books, but this book does hold some meaning I suppose.
I was on set, and since I only got 3 hours of sleep last night, I was slippng in and out of conciousness. It was a good job that the extras weren't needed today, but I came in anyway, because I love watching everyone act. When they go from the worried boys in the glade to themseleves in an instant is really relaxing to watch.
Thomas POV
"So Thomas... where were you last night" Dylan says, flinging his arm over my shoulders.
"I was hanging out with Emily" I smirk.
"Ooh Thomas has got himself a girlfrieeennndd" Dylan cooed.
"No, were just friends" I confirm.
"Right, well me and the lads are all getting together to go down the pub you know, pick up some chicks, have a few pints and whatnot" He offers.
"Sorry, I'm hanging out with Emily again" Wasn't a complete lie I suppose.
"Dude! You hung out with her last night" Dylan whined.
"Still hanging out" I smirk.
I was desperate to finish Romeo and Juliet so I could see Emily again. She intregued me. I had only finished 4 chapters and there are plenty more to come.
"Fine, go have your hanky panky" Dylan laughs, whacking me on the back.
"Were friends!" I argue.
"Suurree.." Dylan nods, as he walks away.
I laugh at him as he trotts away, and make my way over to one of the many undercover sofas.
Taking the book from my bag, I start to read from where I left off.
~~
Just as I finish the 6th chapter, I catch Emily's eye, a small smirk was plastered on her face, as she watched me flick through the pages of the book at a slow pace.
Looking back down at my book, I continue to read the end of the chapter. Just before I turn the page, I notice Emily writing something down. Her eyebrows were furrowed together, and she bit her lip as she scribbled down the words.
Finally, she folds up the paper, and starts to walk over to me. Trying to look non-suspicious, she walks past the sofa casually, and throws the note onto my shoulder.
Laughing at her poor attempt, I pick up the note, and unfold the paper.
'I see you seem to have taken an interest in the book, well I'll have you know I finished jaws, and I suppose you could say it was thrilling. I'll give you that, Thomas. But what it lacks is love and a complex vocabulary in which I can bury every ounce of concentration I have into it. For a person who finds joy in non-romantic novels, you are reading particularly fast, for that I praise you :) I hope you enjoy my book Thomas, and please.. take your time ;)'
Her writing was beautifully neat and joined up, and her wording for just a casual note really took me by surprise. Smiling goofily at the little meaningless note, I pop it into my wallet, and continue to read. In the desperate hope I could at least return it by the end of the week.
'I pray thee, chide not; she whom I love now. Doth grace for grace and love for love allow; the other did not so'

Emily POV
The next day
I looked at Thomas, over in his usual spot on the comfy couch. His head was buried into the book, as his brows furrowed cutely. Suddenly, he noticed me looking, and flashed me one his award winning smirks.
Pulling out a sheet of paper, he starts scribbling down something onto a random piece. Trying to hide my blush, I bury my face into the book I had decided to read again: Great Expectations.
“Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts. I was better after I had cried, than before--more sorry, more aware of my own ingratitude, more gentle.”
Suddenly, a small piece of paper falls beside my hip in the form of a paper aeroplane. Unfolding the note, I scan my eyes over the scruffy words.'I have a proposal. If I was to finish this book at the end of the week, you will repay me in one thing... tickets to the next baseball game ;) if not, I will make sure to buy the tickets AND a hotdog... deal?'
I laugh at his proposal, and write a reply on the paper left at the bottom.
'is this a surefire invite to a baseball game by any chance?' I reply, before throwing it back.
I watch as he lips tug into a smile as he writes his reply.
'It could be, but we are being joined with Dylan, Will and Ki-Hong... so if you loose to this bet then I'm afriad you'll be paying for 5 people... including yourself ;)'
'fine, but no matter what your buying me a hotdog'
'deal' Thomas smiles at me, befre burying his head back into his book, as I do the same.
~~
I was at home, sitting on my laptop, scrolling through twitter when my phone starting buzzing beside me. Thomas' name popped up on the screen.
"Thomas, wasn't our agreement to not speak until you've finished the book?" I laugh.
"I'm aware"
"Then wh-" I start.
"That's the thing... I finished it"
"What?"
"yeah, I finished the last line literally 2 minutes ago"
"Well done mein liebling"
"German?" He laughs
"Yeah, my mum is German"
"Mein leibling sounds like a little kitten"
"A kitten? I think it sounds more like a tiger"
"so I'm your tiger?"
"Sure... tiger... does that make me your kitten?"
"Of course" He laughs. "... What does mein liebling actually mean?"
"My favourite" I smile.
"Well now its my kitten"
"And my tiger"
