It had been a long road for me. First the audition, then the waiting, probably the worst part of choosing the career path of an actress.
But still, if you don't get it, you don't get it. If your agent is good enough, you'll find something eventually. But this time, the only only movie I had taken an interest in, I get the call back. The motivation I had must have been the key to my success, but I was still in shock.
The call-back in show business is gold-dust. The thing we strive for.
I read the books, I heard about the movie, and thanks to my agent, the opportunity shined like a new penny. The Maze Runner. A gripping story about a bunch of people stuck in the glade, in the hopeful attempt to find a way back, to what they perceived as home.
Back to now, I was sat in my seat, the makeup being brushed delicately onto my face. I was only an extra, one of the scientists to be exact. But maybe, just maybe I would be noticed by the directors, and a glimmer of hope could be spotted from the distance.
"On in five!" the director shouts, snapping me out of my dazed state.
"There, done" The makeup artist smiled.
"Thanks" I say, shifting out of my seat. Desperate to make the most of the rest of my free time, I sit comfortably on the sofa, and pull out my copy of Romeo and Juliet.
Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night
Suddenly, I feel a presence lingering behind my shoulder. Curiosity builds up inside me, causing me to turn around, and inspect the stranger.I recognised him, his face was deep in thought and his eyebrows were furrowed together as his eyes scanned over the page. Trying to grasp his attention, I cough loudly, and it proved to be succesful.
His eyes snapped up to my face, as a blush crept sheepishly onto his cheeks.
"Sorry, it seemed interesting" He smiled. "Thomas Sangster" He holds out his hand.
"Emily Steadman" I reply, taking his hand in mine and shaking it softly.
"What are you reading?" He asks, sitting comfortably on the headrest of the sofa, despite the fact there was an extra seat next to me.
"You can't tell? One of the greatest love stories of all time, a novel full of so many emotions and losses and confusions... Romeo and Juliet, a book so intregueing its been rememberd for decades" I exaggerate.
"Oh, of course! I've never read it myself" He says, scrunching up his nose.
"How can you not have read it? It's one of the most beautiful novels ever made" I laugh, folding the page so I didn't loose my spot as I closed the book.
"I don't know, maybe I'll have to read it one day" He says, finally agreeing with my opinion. "So what are you, you know... in the movie" He asks politely.
"Oh I'm just an extra" I smile, still positive about the whole thing. "You?" I ask. I felt like I remembered him, he was definetley more famous than me, and I was finding it hard to keep myself in check.
"Newt" He says. Finally I remember who he was. Nanny McPhee, Love actually, NoWhere Boy, how could I forget?!
"Oh my God! I remember you now!" I exclaim, proud of my discovery.
"NOW you remember me" He winks.
"Woah shallow much" I laugh, slapping him lightly on the arm.
"Shallow? Me? No, of course not" He laughs. "I'm kidding, I'm honoured you remember me" He says, his hand on his heart as he pretends to cry.
Laughing at his goofyness, I whack him lightly on the arm with my book.
"Scientists your needed on set!" Wes (Mr Ball) yells at the top of his lungs.
"Better get going Princess" He winks motioning me towards set "Time to shine" He winks.
"I'll shine like you've never seen before" I smile, skipping off onto set.

The bell for the end of the day rang, sending vibrations throughout the building.
"Good job today everyone! Tomorrow I expect big things from you guys! Your dismissed!" We all shuffle out of building, trying to get into the fresh air.
I wait behind a couple of minutes, so I wouldn't get caught in the massive rush.
"You don't like crowds either huh?" A voice says from the back of the room.
"Not really, makes me feel quite trapped" I shrug, gathering my water bottle, book and sunglasses, and packing them into my messenger bag.
"I guess we have that in common then" Thomas smiles, taking a sip from his water bottle.
"I guess we do" I justify, as I start to walk out of the now practically empty building. I hear rushed footsteps behind me, before noticing Thomas standing next to me, also heading for the doors.
"So where abouts are you staying? I mean you don't sound like your American" He questions as the gravel crunches under our feet.
"I'm down on Harper street, just renting an apartment for a while before I head back to England" I nod, standing awkwardly by my car. "How about you, your accent is simliar to mine?" I ask.
"Oh yeah I'm from London, I got the scrpit for the job and immedietly it intregued me, so I flew over for the casting and landed the role of Newt, not bad" He laughs.
"I'm from London too! But my agent actually found auditions for extras and I took it as my time to shine I suppose" I shrugged. "Look I've gotta go, I suppose I'll see you tomorrow"
"Oh no, not before you have my number" He smiles. Taking my hpone out of my pocket, I hand it to him, as he stands there typing his number in there, before handing it back.
"Well, Bye" Thomas waves, before heading over to his car, his hands stuffed into his pockets.
I was in shock... Thomas Sangster. The guy you had been growing up with your entire life, had just put his number into your phone.
But, it was simply friendly terms. I mean he was an avaliabe actor who, not going to lie, was pretty good looking. What would he want to do with a nobody like me?
Thats the horrible thing... he wouldn't
