The Forever Bond
Echo ThatchYou know, its worth nothing that my name isn't even Echo, nor is my last name Thatch. See, being raised in a test facility with not clue who my family was makes you do some weird shit. The name Echo was a nickname that my brothers and sisters gave me here, in the Project Mutant Facility buried underneath the City. They gave it to me because I had a tendency to repeat orders that people gave us outloud, as if I was in charge. While my last name, Thatch was a name I chose. I chose it because the famous pirate Blackbeard's real name was Edward Thatch, or at least that's what the history books told me down here.
Blackbeard was a free man, he did what he pleased and he didn't take shit from anyone. So in a way, I guess I wanted to be more like him.
The sudden sound of something popping broke me out of my daydream and I sat up in my cell. Unsure as to where the popping sound came from I looked around my cell.
The walls were brick, and were lined in a layer of blue coating, a coating that would prevent our powers, so that we wouldn't try escaping in the middle of the night. I saw Alice standing outside of my cell.
"Hey Echo, what's up?" She asked giving me a smile and spinning a chain of cell keys in her hands.
I nearly jumped out of my bed at the sight of the keys.
"How did you get out of your cell?" I asked looking directly at the keys as she inserted them into the hole.
"I have my ways, actually I pretty much always could."
She opened the door to my cell and I stepped out, cracking my neck and my knuckles as I felt my regeneration ability's kick back in. My skin cells and hair reforming itself to my will.
"Always weird walking out of this thing" I mumbled. "So what, you finally listening to reason?" I asked. I honestly wasn't expecting Alice to be the first to come around, he was always so quiet. Freddy was tough and was a big boy, but just like Alice they followed John's orders. Not listening to all of my strategies of escape over the years.
Of course Betty just followed John like a lost puppy, and new girl Thalia simply refuses to speak to me, claiming that I give off a "Nasty Vibe" Whatever that means, I guess she would know though, considering she can read people's emotions.
Alice shook her head. "No, John and Betty have a plan" Alice explained holding her hand out to grab mine.
I rolled my eyes, of course it was John's idea, always being the hero. I looked down at Alice's hand.
"You sure you can do that? Last time I got stuck in a wall, I can regeneration faster then Wolverine, but that shit still hurts" I explained.
Alice pouted and forcefully grabbed my hand, Then closed her eyes tight, scrunching her nose and whispering to herself. I looked down, and surely enough a portal opened up. We fell through it and appeared in a different hallway.
We were standing in front of the big door. The door that Thalia said she remembers entering through. This door lead to our very escape. In front of it were the others, John and Freddy stood directly in front of the door, starring it down, Betty was crouched over by a security panel that she opened and is messing around with the wires. While Thalia was standing over in the corner, foot up against the wall behind her as she leaned against it. She was observing us.
"Alrighty Johnny, what's the plan?" I asked, John jumped a little at the popping sound of Alice's portal.
I glanced over at Alice who let go of my hand and stood beside me. I smiled to her.
