Cut the Head Off the Snake
John KenwayI awoke to a sharp pain across my face, I was tied to a chair, that much I could tell instantly as I tried to reach my face. A bright light blocked my vision for a moment, before my eyes adjusted and I saw a figure standing over me.
I felt several broken ribs, a sharp pain in my ankle, and felt my left side of my face swelling. What happened?
Then I remembered, Nevermore was attacked by Echo, he ripped our cores away using some box and the moment I got it back I was fighting. I don't remember how that fight ended, but I suppose I didn't win.
"I'm sorry Betty" I mumbled, knowing that at least as of now, I couldn't stop this monster from hurting more people like he did to Betty.
It was Echo who stood over me, I sat in what appeared to be a large green tent. All of my weapons were missing and when I attempted to use my core I felt a pull on my powers. I looked over to see Stitches, siting on a table nearby, her hands glowing turquoise, somehow, using her Chaos Core she was deactivating my powers. Also standing in the room was a smaller man, he wore glasses and held a notebook, to which he was writing down notes in quite aggressively.
"He's awake" Stitches spoke addressing it to Echo, who turned and looked at me and a smirk.
"Good Morning John, did you sleep well?" Echo spoke bending down a little to speak to me at my eye level.
"Fuck you" I mumbled. Then I remembered, the others were right behind me, I remember them holding a force field from the bullets, but then what?
"Where is my team? What did you do to them" I asked looking up at Echo.
"Your team escaped, it appears the princess is stronger then we expected" Echo smirked. "No matter, I've allowed them some time to recuperate without their leader" Echo stood back up and started pacing around the room.
I looked around the room, the grogginess and the pain subsiding. I looked over at the man holding the notebook.
"Who's that?"
"Oh, that there is Ivan Right, he is a sort of book man for me" Echo spoke calmly.
"I also assist Echo in coming up with his strategies" Ivan spoke only looking up from his notebook for a moment.
Echo smiled looking from Ivan back to me. "Ivan here is a little bit of a Spies expert, he gave me some ideas as to best defeat you. I knew having you turn against each other would be the best way to combat you, but there was always a issue, the faith and devotion the team had in there leader. John Kenway" Echo smirked, he got up and walked over to a table nearby, grabbing and opening a fresh bottle of wine, he drank right from the bottle, taking several large gulps before continuing.
"Now. Removing you from the team would weaken them severally, especially if they believed the possibly of your death" Echo continued, he walked over to a chair sitting directly in front of me, and sat down.
"What was that metaphor you used again Ivan?" Echo asked.
"the snake sir" Ivan answered. Echo raised the bottle and nodded.
"Right, if that we cut the head off the snake, the body would soon die with it" Echo spoke with a smile.
I just smiled back, and chuckled softly.
"What?" Echo asked seeming pissed that somehow this made me laugh.
"The Spies aren't a goddamn snake Echo" I started, looking up at him with determined eyes, he seemed shocked and even a little scared by my words.
