The Trial Of The Crystal
Echo Thatch

A few Years Before...

"Stay down!" John shouted running around the room, ducking and dodging a series of electrical blaster shots raining down on us from the front wall.

The room we stood in was round, and fully covered in white padding like an insane asylum, this was years before my assault on Guard post or our escape from Project Mutant, this was before we even met Thalia.

John led us to a concrete barrier and took cover behind it. Betty as always was just behind him, ducking down beside him. Freddy being right behind her, and I was right behind Freddy, I took a stinging shot to the shoulder but my healing made quick work of the pain and soon it faded.

"What the hell is the goal here?" I shouted.

"Goal is to take down those blasters, I'm assuming using some sort of teamwork" John explained.

Alice teleported right next to us crouched down grabbing onto Freddy's shoulder.

"I could draw it's fire" Alice offered.

"Same, I can take the shots" I answered.

"No, Echo, you me and Betty will draw it's fire. Alice teleport Freddy onto the guns, and Freddy. Do your worst" John ordered.

Freddy nodded.

"Go!" John shouted, instantly I ran away from the others and started waving my arms in the air, most of the guns pointed right at me. I dodged as many as I possibly could, but of course I received a few blasts along my arms and shins, my healing making quick work of it once again.

I saw Freddy appear above one of the guns and landed on it. He ripped the barrel right out of the wall and used it as a bat to take care of the other guns just as quickly. He landed on the ground, and used the barrel as a javelin, throwing it right at the last cannon. It landed on the cannon's side, pushing it over and sending off one last powerful blast before exploding.

I smiled as the lights in the room went green, signalling that we have passed the test. Although damn, we did a number on this room.

I looked over to the door and saw that it was open, the blaster must've fucked with electronic lock and forced it open.

"Guys, look" I shouted pointing to the door. The others, who were all panting in exhaustion looked over at the door, and I ran straight for it, this was our chance to escape.

"Guys come on! Let's go!" I shouted just as I reached the door. I looked back into the training room and saw that none of them have moved. They all shared the same look on their faces of fear.

"Hey, we have a few seconds before guards show up, come on! Alice teleport us down the hall we can make up for lost time!" I spoke jumping a little in excitement.

They all gathered behind John.

"We can't do it Echo, it's too dangerous" John spoke, none of them seemed to argue.

"We can fight about it later! Let's just go now while we still can!" I shouted.

John shook his head. Just then two guards came charging through the door. Both of them holding electric charged batons. They shocked me right in the gut but it didn't take me down, I disarmed the guard and took his baton to use against the other one.

A third guard came in and tackled me down.

"John help!" I shouted. I broke free of the tackler's grip and managed to just get to my feet just as Arnold Kenway entered the room with four more guards behind him.
