Once in a Nightlight

Chapter 6

After Toothless had finished talking he and Luna padded outside and said their goodbyes to the dragonets and the nurses, the two padded outside and stood along the lip of a crystal cliff.

"Well? How did you find the kids?" Luna turned her head to him and smiled softly.

"They're cute...very cute, I loved how interested they were in my story." Toothless chuckled softly as he looked ahead and admired the place before looking back at her "They like you a lot, don't they?"

"I'm good friend's with their mothers'...I was one of the first to see them once they were born." Luna looked ahead with a smile, her voice soft "They took a liking to you, Toothless. I think...you'll be a good Dad one day." She leaned over and licked his cheek then started to make her way down the crystal slope with her tail swishing "Now come on! I wanna show you the rest of this place!"

Toothless and Luna jogged their way down the crystal slope and down to a river which flowed through the kingdom. The two cut a short route through the Hidden World so everything was in their view. Toothless admired everything without question, his huge green eyes open in complete awe and adoration. Luna watched her mate with a soft purr before continuing along the clifftop along the wall that lead them around the huge highrock in the middle. 

"It's so amazing, all of it..." Toothless murmured at last as the couple wandered across the cliff and dipping his head over the edge to watch the illuminated stream below them "Even the rivers are fascinating.."

"They are, aren't they?" Luna softly whispered to him when she leapt down the cliff onto another ledge and began walking across it "I hope you'll love it here."

"Are you kidding?" Toothless scoffed in disbelief "I love it here already!! The kids are adorable and so kind, and everyone seems so happy." He smiled and jogged at Luna's side and gently nudged her with his broad shoulder "It's gonna be perfect here with me and you and everyone else. I can see big things happening in the future for us."

"I'm sure big things will come for us my love." Luna giggled softly and gave him a nudge back with her slender body running under his chin then running forward with a loud warble to follow her. Toothless and her sprinted across the ledge and leaping over a large gap in the cliff which plunged into a deep gleaming river so it wasn't so dangerous if they fell. The Hidden World was in complete bliss, the only sounds to be heard was the running water, the soft chirping of dragons above in their nests and the gentle rumbling of the Bewilderbeast in the distance in deep slumber.

Luna and Toothless explored the Hidden World more until sunhigh, their adventure had taken their paws everywhere. Toothless was mildly tired by now, his paws aching as they were trailing their way back to the highrock for a little rest before they did more exploring.

"So? What did you think of the water? Wasn't it cool how I made it glow blue??" Luna flopped down on the smooth polished crystal and began grooming her tiny paws. Her mate collapsed a little ways next to her, panting.

"Very cool." Toothless chuckled softly and licked his sore paws and swished his tail sharply from side to side. Luna beamed brightly while she groomed her paws clean then crossed them and rest her chin on the floor, admiring her mate from where she was and purring at him deeply with a tiny smile.

The couple had plodded back to the nursery to check the dragonets before the Hidden World fell into deep sleep for the night. Toothless tried to escape the nursery but the cubs had clung to him so tight neither Luna or the nurses could pry them off, not even together. It took the team an awful lot of time but they finally got them off the poor king and ready to sleep.

"See you tomorrow!" Mills called from the entrance when the two had left and made their way to their den. Luna climbed up first then waited for him at the lip of the cave. Toothless clambered up after his mate and gently grazed his body against hers then padded into their separate cave and curled up.

"Good day?"

"Mhm! I can't wait for tomorrow..." Toothless purred up at her and nuzzled his tail to his face and cwtched (it's the Welsh way of cuddled/hugged :D pronounced cu-ched) into her warm side and purred louder and deeper at her warmth and comfort. Luna groomed over his head for a long time before she settled down into deep slumber next to him when the whole world went to sleep.
