Once in a Nightlight

Chapter 17

3 weeks later 

Ever since being back home in the Hidden World everything was nice and peaceful, Toothless had plenty of time to relax to himself. Their home was back to life and healthier than ever, life was good for everyone.

Toothless was napping by himself in the den through the late morning, still terribly exhausted after the thrill of three weeks ago. He still felt his body on edge after the water incident and felt the blood run through his veins rapidly, but he was glad to be home safe and sound. Both Thunderhorn and Wildfang were ordered to rest themselves by Toothless so they had enough energy to keep them going throughout the day. 

Luna was out of the den to let her mate rest peacefully to himself, wandering down the sandy slope and padding her way down to the nursery where she visited everyday to see the cubs and the nurses. She loved to accompany them throughout the day and take them around the Hidden World to explore and occupy their little minds. When Luna entered she was immediately swarmed by the cubs who all nuzzled her legs and pounced on her back with happy squeals and laughs of delight.

"Hey sweeties." Luna purred to them all and gave them each a rough nuzzle on their necks, smiling wildly to see them again, Mills came rushing over when the Queen had entered and purred happily.

"Welcome back Luna, they've been expecting you all morning!" Mills chuckled softly while she was still swarmed by the dragonets, sitting down and curling her tail to her paws. The cubs all purred happily up to the Queen and stuck close to her, always being very attached to Luna ever since her first visit at the nursery.

"Apologies for taking so long, Mills. I had to convince Toothless to rest so he wouldn't be so tired this week." Luna grinned cheekily at her friend. "I managed to get him to sleep in the end, so he's in the den resting like he should, the poor baby." She murmured and gave one of the dragonets forehead a lick then sat down herself in front of the nurse. "Any news I should know about?"

"Not that I know of. I did hear there were a few litters being born very soon so we'll have more cubs to look after! Isn't that exciting??" Mills purred in delight and swished her tail happily, always welcoming new cubs to the nursery and offering the best experience for the young dragonets. "

"That is very exciting, it's good to know our home is growing in population, hopefully this place will be swarming with new dragons soon." Luna smiled and sighed softly while she looked at the cubs all cuddled around her and nestled against her paws. She couldn't wait to be a mother one day with her own children and teach them everything she knew, to finally have a family she always wanted for herself and Toothless. Gently, her tail soothed her underbelly while she was looking at the Hidden World, lost in her own thoughts and feelings before turning her attention back to Mills. "I shall go now, but I will come back at noon to visit you all again okay?" She cooed down to the cubs and gave them all a nuzzle before nodding to Mills. "Take care of yourself."

"You too m'lady!" Mills called as the Queen walked out of the nursery and around the edges of their home, her icy eyes to the floor. [ Oh Toothless... ] Luna thought to herself while worry ate at her gut, wandering off by herself around the Hidden World. [ How do I tell you..? ]

The Lightfury continued to aimlessly walk her way along the slopes and cliff sides of the crystal mountains, her tiny paws delicately walking their way along the smooth stone until she got to the den and peered inside to see Toothless asleep on his side still, her baby blue orbs softening at the sight of him and purring softly with a smile, deciding it was okay to come inside and accompany him for a little while. She came over and peeked over to see his face and purred at how peaceful he looked while he was resting. "Even when you're asleep, you're still just as beautiful."  She murmured to herself and gave his cheek a soft nuzzle before walking around him and laying against Toothless, curling up with him and gently resting her head atop of his but she remained wide awake while he was asleep, feeling a sense of worry start to gnaw at her gut that made her ears pin on her head helpless.y

"Oh Toothless..." Luna mumbled quietly to him. "...How do I tell you..."
