Soon you arrive in the county of Herefordshire. It was about time. You were so bored. Sure the English countryside was nice to see in its overcast glory, but it got kind of boring after two and a half hours of driving. On the bright side, the music was good, although that was to be expected. However, it was rather nice to hear compared to some of the other crap that's out there. There was also someone in the car that you didn't get tired of looking at and talking to. Sounds corny, but it was true. Granted you hadn't seen each other in a long time until yesterday (well, two days now technically), but you get the idea.

Ela's presence also made the anxiety a little less apparent, emphasis on a little. A couple of days ago you were just living in St Louis and working for a tech company and now you were in England working for a secret anti-terrorist group of some of the worlds greatest soldiers. Could you even work here? Could you keep your apartment in St Louis? Why should you keep it other than the fact you left a few items behind? You could probably have your parents watch over them. You should probably also notify your landowner. You could do that tomorrow. Today was going to be a day of unpacking, learning the new environment, and sleep.

"You look troubled, (y/n)." Ela says, snapping you out of your thinking.

You sheepishly smile and run your hand through your hair. "It's just a lot to take in, you know? A rash decision and everything. There was little to no planning really."

"Too late to turn back now."

"Yeah." You sigh.

"Hey." Ela puts one hand on your thigh for reassurance. "It'll turn out alright. Trust me."

You smirk. "I'd be more reassured if you kept both hands on the wheel." The Pol chuckles and does as you say. "Thanks."

"Nie ma za co."

It's silent for a few moments."You know, this is so weird for me."

"Hm?"

"The whole driving situation. It's the complete opposite of America's."

She smiles and nods. "Yes it is. Same with Poland. It takes some time to get used to."

"I would think so.

"Almost had a head on collision on base my first week here"

"Really? That must've been scary."

"Yep. Learned my lesson quickly though." She says with a soft laugh at the end of her sentence.

"Hey how close are we?"

"Uhhh, couple of minutes away."

"Sweet. Can't wait to finally stretch my legs. Also I don't know if you know this, but flying can make you sweat a bit."

"Dibs on shower."

"Wha-" Ela winks and laughs a bit, finding your annoyance funny. "Fine. I gotta unpack stuff anyway."

"That will keep you occupied yes. When we finish I'll show you around the base and then we can just, you know, relax. Maybe get food or something. Depends on the time."

"Sounds like a plan."

Soon you can see the base approaching your view. There was a big clock tower on the horizon, with several buildings around. Ela shows her badge to the guard who gives a nod to the gatekeeper and lets the car in. By military standards, it looked like a standard military base, with the trimmed grass, official buildings, soldiers doing PT drills, etc. The signs were different, of course, and there was the Union Jack flying proudly in the air, but overall it wasn't anything super special. Definitely didn't come across as the location of the greatest counter terrorism unit to the average onlooker.
