"You weren't kidding, Elena," You begin walking out of the lab with your supervisor. "That right there is looouuuud."

"¿Verdad? I told you to bring some ear muffs."

"Ela's didn't fit me."

"You mean you forgot."

"Both statements are correct."

Elena laughs as you return to her office. "So now you have a taste of what I want you and Ela to work on. I may have Masaru check in to-" You let out a wince. "¿Qué?"

"Ela's not gonna like that."

"What do you mean?"

"Ela's really independent. Like, she doesn't want anyone getting in the way of her work. I was able to get her trust after a while, but that's partly because I was working on her mine. Plus I'm not sure she's a fan of Masaru."

Elena thinks for a moment. "I'll still bring it up to him. If tensions build between the two of them you can ask Masaru to stop helping."

"Yes ma'am."

"Muy bien. Now let's discuss those proximity alarms you have been working on." Elena opens a drawer and takes out one of your schematics for the device. "I went over your blueprints and everything looks good. I would just try to make it a bit smaller. We want it to be harder to detect."

You nod your head in understanding. "Anything else?"

"Harry's in talks with another person who may join the team, and he's a big name in our line of work. If he tours the facility be on your best behavior."

"What makes you say I never am?" Elena gives you a look. "Okay. Point made."

"Mhm. Now let's go over a few concepts that have been sent in."

The two of you review some designs for improvements or inventions in general, most of them being sent back for being either rejected or with suggested improvements. Once those were finished, you were told you could go home since it was late enough where you couldn't really do anything productive. You didn't know if Ela was finished with her mission, but you figured she'd tell you if she was. Since there was no text or anything, the anxiety of wanting her to be okay did not wane.

You hopped into the Focus and drove back home. After you go through the front door, you notice three things. One was that it smelled like something delicious was being cooked, punk music was being played, and there was a green haired Polish woman currently sitting at the kitchen table drawing. Ela hears you enter and looks up from her drawing before setting down her charcoal pencil and getting up to greet you.

"Witaj z powrotem, skarbie."

"Hey. Wasn't expecting to see you here."

"I know." You two kiss. "Mission was over. After the debrief we were told we could go home for the day. A few went to the pub, but I opted out."

"Why did you op out? Sounds like you could've had fun."

"I wanted to make you something from my home tonight." Ela heads back to the stove to check on what was in the pot. "It takes a while to cook, so I figured I should get started. Or at least it takes a while with the way my babcia taught me how to make rosoł."

"Rosoł is a type of soup?"

"Tak. You'll love it. Trust me."

"I can't wait." You set your jacket on the coat rack and run a hand through your hair.

"What's the news about our cat?"

You chuckle. "He isn't our cat yet. They checked to see if he was chipped which he wasn't, so they're gonna hold onto him for about a day or so to see if anyone calls in to claim him. If not he's ours."
