Three weeks later
"I can't believe he still hasn't called me," I sigh as I stare at my blank phone screen, "I really thought he'd call me, or am I crazy and didn't he say that at all? After all he said that he'd call me, right? And he has my number so that's no excuse."
"I know, it's crazy since Luke and I talk at least once a week. Should I call and ask why Calum doesn't call you? No, forget about that. You can call him yourself. It's called emancipation, you know." Larissa says, but I shout, "No! Both options make me seem like a desperate fan girl. After all, that's what I am, right?" I say, but Larissa is already typing on her phone and grinning. "Too late."
"Fuck you." I say, but my heart still skips a beat when he phone starts ringing. "Hey Luke, you're on speaker."
"Hey Larissa, hey Sara. So, you're wondering why my best friend hasn't called you yet?" Luke says.
"No, Larissa just-"
"Who are you talking to?" I hear somebody say in the distance and I immediately recognize Calum's voice. Now my heart feels like it skipped a couple of beats and I groan. "Oh god, can I just disappear..."
I walk over to the door, not ready to have a conversation with him. But Larissa is fast and slams the door shut before I can actually walk out.
"Saar, you are not backing out. Because if you do, I swear I'll kill you. Now sit down." she orders and I do just that. There's no point in arguing with her.
"Okay Luke, what were you saying?"
"I wasn't saying anything, but anyway, Calum's calling Sara right now."
"No he isn't." I look at my phone and there are no incoming calls.
"Fuck, no signal!" Calum shouts and Luke sighs. "Calum, go to your own room. Maybe that will work."
As soon as the door shuts on the other end of the line my phone screen lights up and my heart starts beating faster.
"Answer!" Larissa yells and I walk out of the room. Before answering the call, I make sure to take a deep breath. "Hello?"
"Sara, I'm so sorry I didn't call you," Calum says right away.
"No, I totally get it. After all I'm just a stupid fangirl that means nothing to you. I mean, that's what I am, aren't I? If I were you, I wouldn't call me either and you're probably too busy to care about me and oh my god I'm overreacting like a lot."
I cringe a little. I am indeed overreacting and that's not something Calum deserves. He does have a busy life and if he really sees me as a fangirl, that's fine. I wouldn't blame him if he did."Yes, you are a little," Calum admits, "But you wanted answers. So, I didn't call you because... because..."
"You don't have a valid argument, do you." I say and Calum sighs, "No, I don't. I guess I was just busy, but I'm so, so, so sorry sorry. You know what, from now on I'll text you every day. I didn't forget about you. Actually I've thought about you a lot. Plus, I'll arrange a surprise for you."'Calum, please don't promise something you can't live up to," I start, referring to what he just said, "But, I am a sucker for surprises. What is it?"
"If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise. But I'm gonna go, bye Saar."
"Saar?" I say in surprise as he says my nickname.
"Yeah, I heard Larissa call you that and I thought it sounded very cute."
"Okay then, bye Calum." I say and hang up. I stare at my blank phone screen for a while before walking back into Larissa's room. Only to find her smiling like a lunatic.
"You've overheard the whole phone call, haven't you..." I sigh and she grins while nodding. "Most of it. You were so overreacting! And he called you Saar? Nobody calls you that, unless you're family or best friends with someone. He's so into you."
"Into me?"
"Yeah, he likes you. I'm a hundred percent sure. And you like him too.""I am not in love with Calum Hood," I deny, "You on the other hand, are in love with Luke Hemmings."
Larissa sighs, "At least I'm not denying it. Well, then at least Calum is falling for you. He called you by your nickname, for goodness sake! Now go tell your sister, she's probably dying to hear this."
