Will serve as a continuation of Son of Evil.
Angst warning~
You can barely remember about anything about your old life. There was nothing good to remember, and you can't bother to remember it.
It wasn't your average commercial family. Booze, cigarette, drugs, a fair share of infidelity, scheduled arguements, occasional hits here and there.
It wasn't the best environment for you and your baby brother Kai, who was a decade younger than you.
The poor kid didn't get to grow up as you hoped he would. You tried to guide him in the right path, correct his mistakes, make him realize what's wrong, make sure he doesn't think he's lonely...
Try as you may, you just couldn't do that. Even if you tried your best, it wasn't enough.
"Kai... Kai come on," you called, trying to get him to walk towards your direction. The unresponsive one year old just merely looks at you in utter boredom. "Kai, come on... Come on..." You called, patting your knees, trying to get him walk to you.
One year old, Kai was one year old and he was already displaying signs of anti-social tendancies.
Even if he is, that didn't stopped you for trying to be the best big sibling to him.
And soon, you were assigned to be the income maker of the family when you hit the age of fifteen. You were reluctant, but you agreed to do it.
You juggled through home schooling Kai, working three different jobs, tending to the house and bills, and your studies. Something a fifteen year old like you isn't very much capable of at such young age.
"Y/N. You're exhausted." Kai's little voice called, tugging on your sleeves.
You found yourself resting your head by the table where you Kai, and he was right. You were exhausted, emotionally drained, forced to do everything that wasn't supposed to be your responsibilities.
"Have you memorised multiplication table, Kai?" You yawned, avoiding his question. He seemed to notice this, but he was tentative to ask. He nods in response. "Okay, great. Recite nine's for me, please."
"9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54—...."
You taught Kai everything he knows.
Numbers, letters, literature, history... Even morals. Yet, he doesn't seem to follow those things.
As his big sibling, you were expected to be the best role model for him. The pillar of excellence he can look up to.
But how can he look up to you when all you do is to do people's own responsibilities?
"Helping people is okay, but don't do everything for them."
"Don't act as a doormat to other people. Don't let them drag you down with them."
You say all of those things, but when he had his back turned... You're basically going against your mottos, letting yourself be the servant of those who failed to raise you.
A child whose duty was to repair what damages their parents made.
"Y/N, do you want to play—"
"Sorry, Kai, I can't help you right now." You busily shuffled to pass the young boy who held the chessboard, excited to play with you.
His smiling face immediately dropped to disappointment when you exit the door.
In the present, you stood in front of a mirror. The same golden gaze your brother has was present in your eyes. The scissors resting between your hands was cold, like his perception of the world.
The more you like in the mirror, the more you realized how Kai has grown. How you have grown.
Once the happy little child looking out for their little brother turned into a weary adult looking out for their little brother.
Some things just don't change. It would seemingly change, but it really doesn't. It's just the same old, same old thing. Just in a new age, new environment, new companions.
Scissors snipping was heard in the silent building. Locks of dark brown cascaded down on clean floors that used to be sparkling clean, now stained with blood.
Scissors, often associated with life and death. An instrument that will cut the umbilical cord from a newborn child, and an instrument to kill.
Scissors, a pair of sharp objects. Both are capable to cut through anything even if they aren't working together. Connected by a screw between them, they were unbreakable, unstoppable.
You hoped that you and your brother Kai worked like that.
Amidst the darkness, the figure cut their hair short. Gently, yet they were rushed.
You brushed your shirt for anything that clung onto your clothes, before facing the mirror.
You looked exactly like him. Just a few quarters short, but look like him nontheless.
You put on a black shirt, buttoning it all the way up to the collar and tying a white neck tie around the neck, as you do. You shrugged his jacket on, before proceeding to wear his shoes. You took his gloves and put it on, before looking at the mirror.
One last thing was needed to compete the look.
You glanced at Kai, seemingly peacefully slumbering by a chair. You looked down in utter failure.
All you life, you devoted to be with him. And you failed. But this time, you'll make sure he lives. It's his life, he'll be in his own.
You knelt next to him, taking your time to examine him.
You can somehow see the young, isolated boy you saw when you were younger. Smiling wishfully, you pressed your lips against his temple, before gently removing the loop of his mask around his ears before fastening it to yours.
And once you left the building, there was no going back.
You're going to face your very own brother's failure like you faced your parents.
If he was perceived as evil, then you are, too.
But this will be the last time you'll do that if you ever make it out alive.
I'm sorry... Little brother.
And with that last statement, you sealed your fate and vanished from the surface of the world.
Somewhere in the mist of darkness, a figure shook in tears. They failed. They failed everyone, they failed the one person who has ever been there for them. They were the worst sibling one would hate the most.
They failed. They failed. They failed.
Forgive me...
Kai Chisaki was the worst sibling, and he can't even do anything right.
The only one that has been with him since the very first day, the only one who is willing to cover up people's mistakes, was now dead.
He was nothing but a brat, but Y/N didn't hated him for that. In fact, they tolerated him. And all their life, they had been doing that.
And now they're gone.
Because of him.
