When I came home from the game, I noticed Maya sitting on the sofa giggling while staring at the screen of her phone. "Girl who making you smile and laugh so uncontrollably." "Mind your business asshole" Maya said as I attempt to grab her phone. "If a guy is trying to get lit with my baby sister I think it's my business." "stop being soo annoying Caleb. I'm talking to my friend Ava." "Maya, you can't be friends with Ava Lockwood. That bitch is crazy and an addict." "And who told you that frog legs," She said giving me a stank look. "My girl Angelina," I said smirking.

"Caleb, you're not a stupid person but I'm very confused with your choice of girls. Weren't you head over heels for that girl cylip? Out of everyone in the entire school you just had to be with the big bad wolf. If anyone is going to be crazy it's her. Didn't you hear that she killed her bestie by stabbing her." "Maya can you just shut up, you don't even know the real story." "Well that's what Ava is telling me" "this is why you shouldn't be friends with her." I said shaking my head. "She's a bad Influence and she is already putting the wrong information in your head. This is the last time I repeat myself, stay away from her."

As I layed in my bed thinking about the game, my dad walks in saying that he wants to talk to me and Maya. Just by the tone of his voice, I knew that it was serious. I put my phone down and made my way to the living room waiting for Maya and dad to join me. My dad walks in with Maya trailing behind him and takes a seat in the loveseat right across from me. "I want to talk to you guys about your mother," he said looking down at his hands. "You guys know that I'm not good at the whole single parent thing, so last month your mother got a chance for parole and she took it." He was getting really nervous, "What does that even fucking mean?" Maya said looking at dad. "Maya this is the first and last time that you're going to speak to me with that language. Anyways, that means that you're mother will be out sooner than we thought. Only if she has good behavior."

I look up at my dad and with a stern voice I said, "How do you know if any of this is true? You never cared about her since the case anyway." He rolled his eyes, "Son don't worry about it. You're mother's lawyer, Jackie Penrose and I talk occasionally, so she keeps me up to date with what's going on with her case." Maya chuckles in a low tone, "I wonder what else she's been keeping you up to date on. But regardless, why do I need to know any of this? Why is this information relevant?" He runs his hands through his beard, "You need to know this because your mom is coming home."

I was very shocked about the news. I guess that I was getting used to the idea of not having a mom in the picture but I think dad needs mom more than he thinks he does. He likes to put on a show but at the end of the day, that's all it is... a show. I walked into Maya's room to check up on her and see how she's taking the news. I found her sitting cross legged on the floor with her journal in one hand and her favorite sparkly blue pen that mom got her for Christmas in the other.

"What's up shorty" I said taking a seat on the cold floor next to her. Maya mumbles "I don't want to talk about my feelings with you, you're not mom stop trying to be like her." In a cool tone I replied, "I'm not trying to bust your bubble but this is about mom coming back, are we ready for that?" She placed her journal on the floor and began to speak "What are you trying to say? You know mom didn't do anything." I groan, "If your going to be mad at anyone, be mad at dad. It's his fault that's she's in there. He gets to choose when she goes to jail and when she comes out. That's kind of how corruption works."

I placed my hand on her shoulder trying to keep her calm. "Caleb, get your FUCKING HAND OFF M-," her voice was cut off by the ring of the doorbell. Maya and I looked dead into each other's eyes as we both said what we were thinking, "Mom's home,"
