Seth and I were at the top of the stairs when we heard mom and dad arguing. "You've finished night school and I'm proud of you Kassandra, but taking a job at Ravenwood high isn't what we need. We're doing fine without you working," Mom starts to look through the bills that have piled up on the counter. "Aaron, clearly the antique shop isn't enough to keep us stable. Getting a job at Cylyss' school is what will get these bills paid. Not praying that your shop brings in enough money to keep the lights on and the water running."

Dad looks a bit hurt by what mom said and continues to advocate for the shop, "The store is doing fine. With more advertisements and a potential relocation, business will be better than ever." She shakes her head vigorously, "How much will ads cost us? How much is relocation and renovation going to cost us? Face it, your fantasy is dead. Reality needs to set in eventually." He slams his hands on the counter, causing her to raise her eyebrows. He yells, "You are not getting that job and that's FINAL!" She stands up from the stool she originally sat at. "The day I let a man control me is when I have officially lost my mind. I'm taking the job Aaron. My first day is tomorrow, grow up and deal with it. Being a man is recognizing when your defeated and right now I don't know if I married a man."

She begins to walk towards the stairs and Seth dashes to his room. I do the same jumping into bed and closing my eyes. My door creaks open and mom takes a seat at my desk. She turns on the lamp and turns the chair to face the bed. "I know you're awake." I sat up and face her with worried eyes. "Are you okay? That fight sounded rough." The light dances on her dreads and her voice sounds smooth. "I'm fine, trust me. How do you feel about me working at your school though?" I play with my curls, "I don't mind. Having you there would be a great way to relieve my stress." She smiles and smooths my hair down. She kisses my forehead, "Try to get some sleep, my love. We'll talk in the morning." She closes my door softly. I can hear her footsteps go across the hall to Seth's room and finally go to her shared room with dad.

As I close my eyes, I can't help but think about Ace and Caleb. On one side, I love Ace with all my heart and on the other Caleb makes me nervous. The good kind of nervous. Hearing from Ava and getting confirmation from Logan that Caleb and Angelina were dating made me jealous. When the team got to Mario's, I sat with Ace, Ava, Logan, Caleb, Angelina, and Gary. Everyone was having a good time, I caught a few glares from Angelina and could tell Ace was trying to keep his cool. He clenched his jaw anytime Caleb looked in my direction. I squeezed his hand to reassure him.

When Ace, Ava and Logan went to go order for the group, I felt Caleb kick my leg. He shows me his phone, I'm sorry is written on the screen. I look at him confused. I turn my focus to Angelina to see that she's having a debate with Gary about who aided the team in winning tonight. She looks completely unaware that her boyfriend is acting sketchy. He types on the small screen and shows me again. I shouldn't have kissed you. I'm sorry. Let's just be friends. I promise the relationship will remain platonic. I look up to meet his eyes and nod. He smiles and sighs with relief.

Ace drove me home and gave me a kiss. He got back in his car and drove off. As I approached my door, I got a text from Caleb.

Caleb: Hope you got home safe❤️

Me: I did thx.

Caleb: Sweet dreams gorgeous.

Me: What happened to being platonic?

Caleb: Doesn't mean I can't flirt here and there😂

Me: Caleb we're both in relationships...

Caleb: Innocent flirting doesn't mean anything. Unless your gorilla has an issue.

Me: Don't call him that, he's just overprotective.

Caleb: Sounds like he's controlling and insecure to me.

I replay the entire situation multiple times. I look at my clock and see that it's 2 am. No sleep and I'm still thinking about what I should've done at the dance. I have gotten no sleep and I'm second guessing my relationship. I close my eyes in hopes that I'll drift off peacefully.

I found myself in a dark hallway and saw a group of people huddled around. I cautiously approached the group and saw Ace and Angelina standing next to each other. His arm is placed around her as she smiles and flips her hair. Her minions saw me first and alerted her. She looked over at me and her eyes turned pitch black. The entire group went silent and Angelina's voice sounded almost demonic. "WHAT DO YOU WANT? YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS HERE!" I look over at Ace and try to get his attention. As I took a closer look at him he looked like a brain dead zombie, his eyes were white and clouded. He stared straight ahead. "I want to speak with Ace." I said, as I held my ground standing in front of Angelina. The lockers behind her started to melt and burn away. The crowd suddenly vanished, it was just her, Ace and I. She laughed diabolically and her black eyes pierced mine. "He wants nothing to do with you after you kissed Caleb. You're nothing and always will be nothing. To me, to Caleb, and to him." She pointed at Ace and I pushed past her. He begins to walk away from me as I call after him. "Ace! ACE! Stop!" I finally catch up to him and grab his arm." He quickly turns to me, grabs my shoulders and presses me against a wall. "I hate you! After everything I've ever done for you, you cheated." His grip gets tighter as I try to push him away. Looking at his face this wasn't Ace. It was just a blacked out figure with Ace's voice. I was screaming and crying. Eventually I closed my eyes and everything went still. I opened them and saw Caleb. He held his hands out and I ran up to hug him, kissing him passionately as I did. I heard someone clear their voice and turned to meet Ace's big brown eyes.

I wake up with a jolt sweating. That dream was intense. What does it mean? I can't help but feel guilty about the outcome. I was too stressed to get anymore sleep that night.
