Children hold a certain innocence about them that is slowly torn away, piece by piece, as that child grows older and begins to learn and experience the secrets and mysteries of this world.

Not every child's innocence is taken at the same point in life, it is taken slowly or all at once, and is always at a different time as the age of that child does not matter and it won't ever matter.

Innocence is a purity that hasn't yet been spoiled by mundane affairs and can be lost in a single event or action, with heartbreak or deceit, loss, hatred.

A child's innocence is one of the only bright and true things in this world and yet, humankind strives to rip such a beautiful thing from such a small person and in Ezra Sutton's case, the last shred of her innocence was connected to a cord and on the end of such a small portion of a string, a secret.

So when that string is pulled violently, her innocence that came in the form of a decade-old lie was cruelly ripped apart.

i usually make it a point to write a lengthy prologue, but i just felt that the simplicity of this really spoke to the events with will unfold in the first instalment of ezra sutton's story and i'm really excited to share it, because i have become immensely attached to this character and the story that has been created for her and i really hope that you all do also.

thank you for reading!
