CAREERS ADVICE

All fifth-years are required to attend a short meeting with their Head of House during the first week of Spring to discuss their future careers. Times of individual appointments are listed below.

Sutton glanced down the list of the fifth years in her house. She quickly found her name printed towards the bottom of the parchment in Snape's elegant scrawl.

Adeline Fawley ~ Monday, 12:00
Beatrice Johnson ~ Monday, 5:00
Merrick Lannister ~ Tuesday 12:00
Lyra Lestrange ~ Tuesday, 5:00
Phoenix Miller ~ Wednesday, 12:00
Andrew Nott ~ Wednesday, 5:00
Adrian Pucey ~ Thursday, 12:00
Ezra Sutton ~ Thursday, 5:00
Cassius Warrington ~ Friday, 12:00
Tatum Zabini ~ Friday, 5:00

"Career appointments?" Merrick appeared next to her, and she nodded as she glanced up at him. She gestured to the table, which contained hundreds of different brightly coloured pamphlets.

"Yeah. There's a whole bunch of pamphlets on the tables."

"I saw those." He said, watching as she flicked through a few of the pamphlets on one of the tables, stopping on one about Magizoology with a flicker of interest, "Don't need any, I didn't think you did either."

Forgetting the pamphlet, Sutton glanced up at him in surprise.

"You know what you want to do?" She asked curiously.

"I want to be a Healer." He replied, grinning down at the look on her face. She would have never been able to picture Merrick Lannister as a Healer.

"What caused you to decide that?" She questioned, intrigued by this new information.

Merrick shrugged.

"I'd like to help people." He answered, "As my Mum does. But, it still sucks that I have to spend who knows how long having a one on one with Snape."

Sutton had to smile at his reasoning, but she laughed at his jab at Snape.

"Believe me, I know." She groaned as the two set off out of the Common Room, "The man despises me, and now I have to sit there while he discusses how I'm too much of a dunderhead for my chosen field. No bloody thank you."

"Yeah, that man has it out for you." Merrick agreed, "Why d'you have so many pamphlets?"

She shrugged, "I like to keep my options open."

During their second class of the day, Lyra and Phoenix's laughter rang through the Ancient Runes classroom. While she attempted to look through her Charms textbook for a spell to return her hair to normal, Sutton glared at the two.
