The long way home || Shawn Mendes||

Shawn grabs my hand and we run across the bridge rain pouring down upon us. We take shelter under a big oak tree.

"The rain really came out of no where," Shawn says staring me in the eyes.

"Yeah," I say not breaking the eye contact.

He slowly inches closer until I can feel his breath and my face. I can smell his sweet cologne. I can feel my heart beating rapidly in my chest as he leans in to kiss me.

I wake up from my dream to see Shawn laying in front of me with his arm draped over my waist. I quickly lift it up and slide out putting a pillow in my place. He moves around a little getting settled and he looks at peace. I head into the bathroom and I jump in the shower the dream goes around and around in my head making me confused about how I feel about Shawn. When I snap out of my thoughts I realise I have been in there for nearly 40 minuets. I get out and I wrap a towel around me. I walk out into the room and Shawn is sitting up on the bed rubbing his eyes.

The door to the room swings open and Danny walks in and flops down on the bed.

"Alessia is begging for us to go to this water park she found online that's not that far away," Danny says looking at his phone.

"Hi Alex how are you, I'm great how are you, fantastic do you want to go to a water park, sure why not," I say looking at Danny as he looks up from his phone as a smirk appears on Shawn's face.

"So is that a yes?" Danny asks.

"Yes now can you both leave so I can get dressed because if you haven't noticed I'm in a towel," I say opening the door to Shawn's room.

"Oh I've noticed," I hear Shawn whisper under his breath while getting up which makes me blush.

I put on a white and pink checker board bikini and I put on a yellow t-shirt which I tie in a knot and some shorts. I put my hair in a messy bun and I but on my white converse. I put some things in a bag and then I grab a hoodie and my phone before knocking on Shawn's door and he yells it's open.

"You ready?" I ask walking into his room.

"Yep," he says putting his phone in his pocket.

We head down the stairs as the elevator is still not completely fixed and we wait in the lobby for Danny and Alessia to come down. As we sit I keep on seeing Shawn smiling while looking at me.

"What?" I ask starting to get annoyed.

"Nothing," Shawn smirks.

"What tell me," I moan wanting to know.

"Nothing," he smirks.

"You are so irritating," I say crossing my arms and pouting.

"What did you do Shawn to make Alex pout?" Alessia asks walking over with Danny following behind.

"I didn't do anything," he says putting his hands up in defence.

"He was looking at me strange and wont tell me why," I say standing up.

"I was not looking at you weird," Shawn says walking with Danny behind Alessia and I.

"So why were you looking at her weird?" Danny whispers to Shawn.

"I was smiling at her because she just looked so god damn beautiful," Shawn whispers back which makes me blush.

We get in the car and we soon arrive at the waterpark and we all get out. We get wristbands and then we g to the locker rooms. I put my things in a locker and I attach the key to my wristband. I walk over and tell Alessia that I will go out to the others while she runs to the bathroom. When I walk out I see Shawn and Danny standing there leaning against a wall.

"Wow Alex you look," Danny says looking at me.

"Woah," Shawn says with his jaw literally on the ground, "When did you get a tattoo he asks looking at the small daffodil tattoo on my ribs.

"Like a year ago," I say crossing my arms in front of my chest feeling subconscious about being this exposed.

"You always have loved daffodils," Shawn says with a small smile which reminds me of when he gave me one at the spot that feels like a life time ago.

Alessia comes out and we start to stroll to the first waterslides which are racing ones. Alessia and I go against each other and we end up getting to the end at the same time a few seconds later Danny comes speeding down followed by Shawn. When we get back to the top Shawn is still saying how Danny cheated. Alessia and Shawn go and I see Alessia pop out the bottom just before Shawn then Danny and I go but he goes at one instead of three and speeds off without me.

"Cheater," I say jumping on Danny's back when I pop out the bottom.

"I did not cheat," Danny says and I splash him.

Danny gives me a piggy back ride to the top and when Shawn and I go against each other Danny holds back Shawn for a few seconds so I would win.

"You two are a bunch of cheaters," Shawn says as we walk over to the next slides.

We go on ring slides and those ones with all the bumps and pitch black ones and open ones. It's fun and I like spending all this time with Shawn. We decide to get some lunch so we go to the little hotdog cart before sitting down on some benches.

"So how are you liking the tour so far?" Danny asks.

"I like it it's not what I expected," I say.

"And what did you expect?" Danny asks.

"I don't know," I say looking down at my feet.

When we are done Danny and Alessia go back to the pitch black slide while Shawn and I stroll around. We get some cocktails and we go around on the lazy river. We wrap our legs together so we don't float away from each other.

"I've missed spending time with you," Shawn says

"Me too," I say looking at him with a smile.

"I think you might be the most beautiful person I've ever known and the more I see you the more beautiful features I see," Shawn says a bit tipsy.

"I think you have had way to much to drink," I say while trying the hide the fact that I'm blushing by leaning back and putting my arms over my face.

"Guys," I hear someone yell as we go under a bridge and I move my arms to see Alessia, "There's this really cool slide you guys have to go on with us."

"Okay were coming now," I say.

When we get out of the lazy river Alessia and Danny are waiting and they drag us to this slide where you stand up and the floor drops from underneath you. When we get to the top I start to freak out a bit but Shawn gives my hand a little squeeze to reassure me The line ahead gets shorter and shorter and soon it's my turn.

"I don't think I can do this," I say looking at the drop.

"You got this Alex you can do it," Shawn says walking over to the other slide.

We both step in and I look at him before the floor opens and I speed down the slide screaming. When I reach the bottom I burst out laughing and Shawn looks at me like I have gone insane.

"What?" I ask when I finally catch my breath.

"I could hear you screaming the whole way down and now you are laughing your head off," Shawn says shaking his head.

"What can I not laugh at myself?" I say as we walk over to Danny and Alessia who went down first.

"You really are a unique girl aren't you," Shawn says like he is trying to see what I'm thinking.

"And you are only just realising that," I laugh.

We decide to call it a day and we head back to the hotel. The whole way I think about how I just want to kiss Shawn and be his again but I don't think I could ever be his again. A kind of sorrow fills me as I think about if Shawn had told me about the tour or if he never went on it what would have happened with us, would we still be together or would another problem have gotten in the way? Would I have ever found out that I loved photography?, Would I be doing something completely different?, would I have even gone travelling and met Taz and Ollie? Maybe Shawn had to leave for me to find myself.
