Emily

Can I just say I HATE the rain. I can't stand it. Whenever I get wet I pass out.

"Uh Emily," Fili murmurs and shakes my shoulder.

"Yeah what," I mumble half awake.

"You passed out in your saddle," Fili answers.

"Gave us quite a scare," Kili adds.

"Just leave me, I pass out when it rains. Ill be fine once I'm dry," I mutter and then I'm out again.

"Are you sure it's okay?" Kili asks me while he nervously eyes Emily.

"This happens every time, a quirk in her biology. Just make sure she doesn't fall off," I respond casually but it does not erase the dwarf's concern. "If you're so concerned just ride with her, so you can cradle her or whatever."

"Yes!" Fili replies quickly and I raise an eyebrow at him.

"You answered that too quickly and too excited, so Emily will ride with me," I decide and nudge my horse over to Emily's pony so I can scoop her up and then attach her ponies lead to my saddle.

"As long as the strange halfling is safe," Fili mumbles and hangs his head.

"Speaking of strange, my sweet platonic. Why aren't you wearing a jacket and obviously not bothered by this rain? Even Grace seems slightly bothered," Kili wonders. I hold back a flinch and in an instant I catch a knife flying at Kili's shoulder.

"Grace!' Allie admonishes, but Grace will feel no shame nor remorse.

"Rain bothers me not, on the contrary it makes me quite happy and rejuvenated," I lie and stare into the falling droplets. In reality I dislike rain as much as anyone, but the rain gives me hope that something stronger than flame exists.

"Oh well okay," Kili accepts reluctantly.

"Strange people," Fili grumbles.

"Here, Mr. Gandalf? Can't you do something about this deluge?" Dori calls to Gandalf promptly as our conversation ends.

"It is raining, master dwarf. And it will continue to rain until the rain is done! If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another wizard," Gandalf answers shortly.

"Are there any?" Bilbo asks.

"What?" Gandalf returns.

"Other wizards?" Allie clarifies. "Or witches or magical beings capable of weather-altering feats."

"There are five us. The greatest of our order is Saruman, The White. Then there are the two blue wizards. Though now, I've quite forgotten their names," Gandalf replies and mulls over Allie's additional question.

"And who is the fifth?" Bilbo asks.

"Well, that would be Radagast, The Brown," Gandalf answers.

"Is he a great wizard or is he...more like you?" Bilbo queries, smirking. Gandalf shakes his head at the hobbit.

"I think he's a very great wizard, in his own way. He's a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others. He keeps a watchful eye over the vast forestlands to the East, and a good thing too, for always evil will look to find a foothold in this world," Gandalf explains wisely.
