{Sunrise - 1}

The time had been five o'clock in the morning, and for the love of everything holy, you couldn't fall asleep. You've tried everything you could think of; counting sheep, warm milk, reading, stretching, and even tried listening to soothing nature sounds on your phone. It just felt as though your own mind was against you. So, once this ungodly hour of the night rolled around, you decided to take a risk that could potentially get you a scolding from Mr. Aizawa for not following the lights out policy. To your knowledge, everyone was asleep at this hour, and sneaking out to a peaceful place such as the roof seemed like an easy plan in your mind.

As silently as you could possibly manage, you walked down the hall and up the last flights of stairs. Your room had been on the fourth floor, making it easy for you to just walk up one last flight to get to the roof. Trying to do it as silently as humanly possible, you push open the large metal door, being met with a cool morning breeze. Luckily, you had thrown on a thicker sweater and your slippers before coming up here, making sure you were prepared for the chill in the air. The sun hadn't risen yet, so you were left to silence and pale darkness.

You walked over to the edge of the roof, being held back by a three foot wall. Your hand placed itself over the concrete ledge, a faint light forming from your palm. From either sides of your hand, vines shoot out slowly, snaking their way over the dull rooftop barrier. With the amount of sun and rain they will eventually get, they'll be able to sustain life up here. Now, the gray concrete on the top of the small wall had been covered in thin vines, some flowing off the edge just slightly. You walked along the roof's border, running your fingertips over the vines. As you do so, flowers and leaves slowly start to bloom from within the thin green strands. It had been a fascinating quirk, yes, but it was kind of surprising it was good enough to get you into class 1A.

As you stood, taking a look out at the beautiful night sky, a very slight noise sounded from behind you. You had been lost in thought, so it didn't render in your mind that someone else had found their way up to the roof. When it finally clicked in your mind that someone else's footsteps were audible, you turned your head quickly, expecting to see Mr. Aizawa or Iida, both ready to get you in instant trouble. Instead, you were met with the face of someone you didn't expect.

"Koda, what are you doing up here?" You asked, seeming to startle him. His mouth opened and he waved his hands in front of him, as if apologizing. "You're okay, I'm not gonna tattle on you or anything. Besides, you kinda caught me up here, too." You said bashfully, looking to the floor.

The boy hung his head in relief as he let out a slow sigh. He didn't say anything as he walked over to the ledge, looking around the city, his eyes then looking down at the vines in confusion. He turned to you while pointing down at them.

"Yeah, I did that." You laugh, rubbing the back of your neck. "It was boring up here, so I gave it a little life." Your voice is soft as the timid boy approaches, looking around at the bright flowers that had now sprouted all over the ledge. In the distance, you could hear the sound of birds beginning their morning songs, seeming to bring the world around Koda and you to life slowly. At the sounds of the animals, the boy perked up and looked around. The realization hit you that this might have been a daily routine of his. "Do you come up here to communicate with the birds in the morning?" You ask, looking over at him.

He only nods with a shy smile, looking over at the horizon, seemingly avoiding your gaze. Though, you didn't mind that he was avoiding your looks. If he was looking over at you, your reaction probably would've been the same. The similarity of your quirks, even though, in retrospect, they have absolutely nothing to do with each other, make you two closer as friends. This wouldn't have been the first time you use your quirk to benefit him; the other day, you had created a small window garden for him, allowing him to attract birds. The feathered creatures always seemed to be his favorite. However, he asked for only monochrome flowers, if you could control that, because the poor boy was deathly afraid of attracting bugs with bright, noticeable colors. Not so much butterflies, but bees, flies, spiders, and other creepy crawlers really set him off. Luckily, the sun was just starting to rise, so there weren't many bugs in the city of Tokyo out about at this hour.
