{Long Distance - 1}
It had been a Friday afternoon, around 4:00 PM when you arrived at your home. Today had been your last day of your senior year, and the last Friday that you’d be spending with your parents. When you unlocked the door and stepped inside, neither of your parents appeared to be home. Your day hadn’t been the greatest, but you knew that the feeling of dread was only temporary.
Your feet carried you silently throughout the kitchen as you searched for something to eat. An idea popped into your mind, causing you to whip out your phone and go to a folder in your image gallery filled with screenshots of various recipes and cooking tips. “He’s going to be so impressed with me.” You mumbled to yourself with a smile while getting to work immediately.
As you began to get started on your after school meal, you continuously looked at your phone, remaining weary of the time. When 4:30 rolled around, you waited not another second to go to your call logs and press on the first name that popped up.
The phone rang a few times before a gruff voice on the other end answered. “Mornin’.” Katsuki greeted you, clearly just being woken up.
“Good morning, handsome man.” You cooed to your boyfriend. “Do you have school today?”
There was rustling on the other end before he clicked his tongue and chuckled into the phone. “It’s Saturday, dumbass.”
Guilt flooded through your heart as you brushed the hair out of your face, simultaneously trying to fix yourself a helping of the spicy noodle dish you had made. “Oh, I completely forgot! I’m so sorry!”
“It’s fine.” Bakugou yawned before asking his daily question. “How’s your day been so far?”
Despite you living in the states and him living all the way in Japan, the two of you found yourself tangled in a ridiculous relationship. You were nineteen, just having graduated from high school. Bakugou, however, was just beginning the summer of his third year as an eighteen year old. You had actually met him when he was in middle school over some video game, but only started to get close when he began his journey to become a pro hero at UA.
At first, the blonde hated you with every fiber of his being. He had been one of the toxic boys on the server who spoke very broken English. You spoke some Japanese due to a family friend living in Tokyo. It hadn’t been easy, but you ended up playing game after game with the boy. He eventually asked for your social media, eventually being bold enough to ask for your number.
“It’s been alright. I finished all my graduation stuff, so I’ll have to show you the pictures I got taken. Do you want me to text them to you after you wake up a little?” You put the phone on speaker while carrying it, along with your dish, into the kitchen.
Bakugou scoffs and, as if you could see it, rolled his eyes at your question. “Why don’t you just show them to me when you get here?”
The words tightened both of your chests, though you weren’t ashamed of the reaction it gave you. A while ago, you had made a promise to Katsuki that, once you graduated from your current high school, you would seek higher education in Japan. That family friend that lives in the city had even offered for you to stay with her while you found your bearings in the foreign country. The two of you planned it out so perfectly. You would meet each other in seven long days, but you knew it was going to be the longest week of your life.
“You’re right,” you smiled while wrapping noodles around your silver fork. “I’ll just show you when I see you.”
Bakugou was silent for a moment before suddenly blurting a question you had been waiting for him to ask. “Are you bringing Starburst with you?”
