I walked down the street rapidly until I heard Caleb shout out for me. "Skylar! Skylar stop!" He ran down towards me, pulling me back by my arm. I shut my eyes and turned around and once I opened them, there stood Caleb in front of me.
"What?" I asked angrily.
"What?" He repeated.
"I don't have time, Caleb. Shoot what you wanna say."
"What the fuck Skylar? What the fuck were you doing in there?"
"You're talking as if you don't know." I tittered.
"Skylar, this is no joke." He yelled with anger in his voice and jealously in his eyes.
"We did whatever we did because we wanted to! What's your deal with it?!" I shouted.
"Come on, he's my best friend!" He shouted back.
"Yeah so? How is it bothering you? He's a free man."
"Skylar, a few days ago you were kissing me!"
"We're not dating, Caleb, are we?" I screeched as creases grew on my forehead.
He stayed quiet and he looked away immediately.
"What? Speak now!" I ordered.
"No, we're not dating." My heart grew weak suddenly and I couldn't be the cunning one anymore.
I responded softly, "We aren't, but do you want to?" He grew silent again.
"N-no."
"What? Caleb...I- What do you mean?" I said as my voice turned weaker.
"Skylar, I don't wanna date you."
I could feel tears filling up in my eyes but I tried hard to push them away.
"Why?" I muttered.
"It was a mistake. I like somebody else."
"Caleb, what was a mistake? And who do like?"
"That day we ditched class, the dance floor and what happened in that room. All of it was a mistake."
There was a short silence before he broke it by saying, "And- uh, I like, Charlotte."
"The-the cheerleader?"..
"Yes."
I felt crushed. I was breathless, like I was rowing away as if some ghost from the past was chasing me. There was a burning sensation in my lungs as I desperately tried to draw more air. This wasn't the first time someone hurt me, the first time my heart was broken. But somehow, this time, it was different. I was tired emotionally. I could feel as if my muscles were giving out and I just couldn't take it anymore.
"Skylar? Are you okay?" asked Caleb as he laid his hand on my shoulder.
"Don't touch me!" I yapped as tears ran down my eyes and my hands reached to wipe them off.
"Why did you kiss me in the first place then?" I screeched.
"Because I knew you liked me! I just gave you what you wanted!"
"You- All I wanted was being with you! I wanted you! I didn't want to screw and or kiss! I fucking wanted you!"
"But you took me to that room!"
"Caleb, you followed me to that room! You led me on! I didn't force you at any point!"
"Yes but you liked me so I thought I could..."
"Take advantage of me? Caleb you are a fucking whore, a fucking bitch!"
"Don't use that language Skylar, I might get pissed."
"Mind my language? Why the fuck couldn't you mind your actions? What about how you hurt me?"
"Stop taking this so seriously! Come on, we were just having fun!"
"Caleb, I though I was falling in love with you! I wasn't just having fun!"
"But at least you did have fun!"
There was a brief silence between us. He started into my red, enraged eyes gently while I started back into his eyes, incensed.
"You wanna talk about fun? Here you go." I said hushedly. I pulled back my hand and drew it tightly right on his face, slapping him hard.
"Fuck you and your fun. I don't wanna see your fucking face again." I said brazenly as I continued sobbing and dashed away.
Caleb still stood there, with a hand on his face, blankly and probably returned to Donovan's place later.
I went back home, not telling my parents about anything at all. I locked my room door, shoved my face into the pillow and cried and cried for hours.
