I walked towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water. My mom was sitting on the couch, reading the newspaper. She glanced at me but didn't say anything at first.

"How are you doing?" She asked then.

"Fine"

"So you mean you're not hungover?"

"Ah, you know I got drunk." I sighed as I sat down beside her.

"Yes, I figured it when Valencia came in to drop you, till your room."

I tittered.

"What made you so late? You reached home by twelve." Mom continued.

"No, I think I was home by elevem-thirty."

"How come?"

"Oh shit." I said, realizing that I had spent some time later in bed with Val, before she left.

"Hmm?"

"Never mind. I've to leave now, for breakfast."

"It's not like we don't have food at home."

I hesitated. "I know but-"

"Yes? Do you want to tell me something?"

"Mom..."

"What is it?"

"I think...I", I gulped. "I kissed Valencia and I liked it."

Mom beamed a smile at me.

"I know it's hard believe." I soughed.

"No, it isn't." She laughed. "It's totally normal!"

I simpered.

"My best friend, Josie, in high school was lesbian." Mom added.

"Oh, I am new to all of it though. I never thought I was gay, I don't even know now if I'm bisexual, or whatever." I sighed.

"You'll figure it out eventually." She smiled reassuringly.

I blushed and nodded.

I sat in my yard, by the pool pondering over how to approach my life right now. The more I was contemplating, the more I began introspecting. "I have been a dick this entire year." I thought. "I have not thought about anyone but myself for the past few months. When was the last time I did something good, something sweet for my parents, for Rachel and Anne? For Alvin? ...For Valencia? They all keep looking out for me. I care for them too, but they do a lot for me than I for them."

It was time I acknowledged the goodness in my life than keep on whimpering over pettiness I had no control over. It was time I came true to myself and recognize where my heart belonged; where my heart was leading me to.

The same night, Rachel, Anne and I planned a girls' night and a F.R.I.E.N.D.S marathon. The night was short but our conversations were long. In the morning, while everyone was asleep, I brought Breakfast in Bed for mom, dad, Rachel and Anna.

"Honey, did you all sleep well?" asked my mom.

"Should we lie or tell the truth?" Anne laughed. "We stayed up all night."

"I really wanted to cook this morning for you!" I added

"Well, sleep in later then, you all." my dad smiled.

"Skye can sometimes be so nice, she melts my heart." Rachel commented.

"I feel like you all have done so much for me. This is just a-"

"Hmm..sweet gesture." interjected Anne.

And to that we all smiled and I had so much gratitude in me for my family.

Later that day, I walked down to Valencia's house, to meet her mom. I silently knocked on her door, hoping to not see Val. And to my delight, Val's mother opened the door.

"Hi, Skylar!" she smiled.

"Hello, uhm."

"Valenica has gone grocery shopping. You can wait till she comes back."

"No, actually, I wanted to talk to you."

"Me? What's the matter?"
