------- A week later -------
Days had gone by and I had neither texted nor talked to Valenica. I had spent enough time by myself to accept my true self; my queer self. I liked girls just how I have liked guys and Valencia and her beauty, her kindness had helped me come to terms with myself.
And today was the day I was finally going see her face.
------Valenica's POV------
"Where are you?" exclaimed Grace.
"Huh?"
"You zoned out again, didn't you? You forgot we're in a cafe and having those crispy fries skipped your mind." surmised Ryan. "Where is your mind?"
"You've been this way for days now: quiet, pale and stodgy." claimed Grace.
"Val, what's the matter?" asked Eva with concern.
I sighed. "You won't understand."
"Try to make us. What is it about?" inquired Tom.
"About someone I like." I confessed.
"Finally! Finally Valencia is having some boy-problems!" laughed Eva and all of them chorused.
"Girl-problems. I'm lesbian." I jeered.
"Oh." muttered Eva before giving me an apologetic smile and everyone was surprised. There was a moment of silence amongst us.
"Whoever you like, let us help you so you can focus on having your fries before I choose to steal 'em!" giggled Ryan.
And a titter escaped my mouth. After days, I felt close to being okay. All of a sudden, my phone rang. It was Skylar calling. My heart started beating faster and my palms were sweating as I stared at my phone screen. Nervously, I thought,"Why is she calling me? She goes a week without talking to me and now...what do I do!". I got up from my chair and began to make my way out of the cafe-shop.
"Where are you heading?" queried Tom.
"Erm- I got to rush. Ryan, have my fries all you want!"
"B-but, Val!" they all echoed.
I walked out of the door and picked up Skylar's call. Neither of us spoke for a good ten seconds.
"Hi." she whispered.
"Everything alright?"
"Why? What's up?"
"Well, you decided to call me. Guessing the sky fell?"
Skylar chuckled. "Come home. I'm waiting for you, at your place."
"Okay...why though? I mean-"
"There is a surprise for you."
"Really?" I smirked.
"Yeah, something big."
"On my way."
Throughout my drive back home, I could not but blush and think of all the possibilities for a surprise. "What will it be?" I anticipated. I drove into my yard, stood in front of the door and rang in the bell, all tensed up. When the door swung open, it exposed the person on the other side of it; my brother, Samuel.
"S-Sam?" I hushed as my eyes started tearing up.
"In the flesh." he beamed.
I jumped excitedly right into his arms. When I realized that this was her surprise, I knew I was in love, with the right woman.
"So how are you here?" I asked Samuel.
"Well, ask your friend." Right then Skylar skedaddled out of the kitchen.
It turned out that Skylar had discussed with my mom and Samuel to ask him to stay here for a week. I had spent the entire evening with Samuel, Skylar and my mom and I was truly happy after the longest time. It was sundown when we finished cooking and sat down to relax. Skylar and I were yet speak to each other personally. She was chatting with Samuel when I began pondering, "No one has thought so deeply about making me happy the way Skylar has done today, not even Samuel." I observed her graceful body, her hair fell on her shoulders like a waterfall. The one thing that made her unimaginably attractive were her almond-brown eyes, which shined as if honey and the brown of the tree were gently mixed in. And when they met with mine, she scanned my face, as if she was trying to read my mind. The tension between us only shot up as she looked down at my parted lips.
"Skye? Can I talk to you for a second?" I interrupted as Samuel vapidly was going on about professors at his uni.
"Uhm- yes, of course." smirked Skylar.
"Follow me." I commanded as we moved upstairs to my room.
I just set foot into the room as Skylar locked the door shut.
"So..I was saying that-" I rambled. She ran one finger on my lips and whispered: "Quiet". She pushed me on the bed and I sat obediently. She kneeled down in front of me as we gazed into each other's eyes. Right then, she held my chin and pressed her lips softly on mine; the euphoria that ran through my body was unfathomable. Shortly, I pulled back. I did not want her to just kiss me. I wanted to know how she felt about me.
"Wait. I need to know, what does this mean?" I asked in angst.
