Part one
Y/n's pov
Being friends with Lucio made me come to these masquerades. I was with him through all of his mercenary days and we slowly fell apart. He recently messaged me after years to invite me to a masquerade. Even though I disgust high class parties, I might as well even if it's just to see an old friend. I read over the pale paper as I sigh. I walk over to my closet and open the tall doors as I poke through the cotton cloth. I pick out a f/c outfit I find acceptable. I fold up the long fabric and pull out an old bag. I place it onto my bed as I walk around my room folding my belongings and placing them into the bag. Lucio had written that I would be able to stay with his if I wished so I didn't have to worry about finding a place to stay for the month that I'm in Vensuvia. I finish putting my clothes in my bag as I go around my house, preparing everything for the trip. I'll have to leave tomorrow so that I can be there on time.

The carriage pulls into the long walk way. I open the door, slowly. I gawk at the tall building as my feet meet the stone ground. Lucio had never told me about any of this. The driver hands me my bags as I walk towards the large doors. Anxiety rising as I walk closer. I increase my pace as the long corridor lays ahead of me. I get half way down the hall before a hand grabs me. I feel myself being pulled into a hug."Y/n!" Lucio says. " Monty!" I yelp, crushing him in a hug. I look at him smiling like an idiot. " I'm so happy you came! I haven't seen you in years. " he says, matching my grin. " So am I. I was unsure about it at first ,though." I admit. " Don't worry! I know you don't like people, but I want you to meet my courtiers." He comforts me. I give him an unsure look as he shakes his head. " Don't worry! You'll meet them at masquerade." he says. I look at him as he smiles. " I can't wait. But for now can you show me around?" I ask. He nods and pulls me forward.I smile as he leads me to a mahogany door. " This is your room. So you can put your stuff. Then we can go look around." Lucio says, opening the door. The open door reveal a bed with pillows I would fall into and never get up. I drop my bag onto the floor as I cross the room over to the silk covers. I drop my body onto the mattress as the covers engulf me. My eyes close as I hear Lucio's voice. " Come on. Nadia has some free time and you can meet my courtiers." he says. I move my head to look over at him. I roll my eyes as I blow a piece of hair from my face. " Fine." I say.
Time skip brought to you by Valerius clicking down the hall with his heels.
I follow behind Lucio as he brings me to a small parlor. " Noddy! " he shouts. The door opens to reveal a white haired man with cocoa skin. " What?" the man says, clearly annoyed, " Oh I'm sorry! Hi. I'm Asra.". I wave my hand in a meek wave. He smiles at me as I look around the room. I see a gorgeous tall woman, tan and elegant sitting by a about six foot tall pale ginger. The tall ginger waves to me as Asra brings us into the room. " Hello." the woman says, waving. I wave back to her as I pull up a seat next to Lucio. " Nadia and Julian." Asra says, gesturing to the two. " And you are?" Nadia says with a smile. " Y/n. " I answer. " We've been friends for years." Lucio says. Julian raises an eyebrow at me as I nod with a smile. An awkward silence begins as the polite small talk ends. " What brings you here?" Asra says, breaking the tense atmosphere. " Lucio invited me up here to come to the masquerade." I answer. Lucio smiles at this. " The masquerades are quite..." Nadia pauses to find the right words, " Lovely.". Lucio shoots her a look . " It was nice meeting you all. " I say, getting up as the words slowly leave my mouth. " We do have to meet the courtiers." Lucio says, getting up. Julian opens the door as I nod to thank him. Lucio leads me out to a hall as I hear the laughter resume from the room. " That went, um, well." Lucio breaks the silence. " I mean, I guess." I say, shrugging. Lucio leads me down the hallway, our footsteps the only sound. Lucio stops at a strange tree placed in the middle of the floor. I look at him, confused. He gives me a wink as he pulls out some keys. As he matches them to their locks, the tree roots slowly untangle. Lucio laughs as he sees me gaping. He leads me through the trunk of the tree as he walks over to a shelf. He hovers over a group of book, his eyes wondering across their spines. I walk around the room as Lucio mutters to himself." Ahah!" Lucio startles me, " I found it!". I look at him. " Ready?" Lucio asks. I nod, unsure. As his hand meets the book, he pulls the worn spine out some of the way. The books quiver as the shelf slides across the ground. The newly made doorway had stairs that led down to a dark under ground passage way. Lucio grabs a torch. Lucio gestures for me to follow. The dim light fighting against the dark abyss surrounding us. The slight sound of water dripping on cobble stone ground leading us to the level. The slight skittering echoing against the walls. " Wonderful! Guests! And who is this?" a voice startles us.
