Chapter 9:

"DANICA!"

"AH!" Danica jerked awake at Tessa's yell to find her sitting on a little arm chair across from her.

Danica hadn't gotten much rest since Andy hacked into the RED FILES... And she was exhausted.

Yawning, she looked across at Tessa.

"What happened...?"

"Aj's meeting Jay downtown at some burger joint for lunch, she's gonna get EDG info on where they are with your search and we're getting live feed..."

She tossed Danica a little earpiece before attaching her own; "I thought you should hear what they say."

Danica nodded.

"Pink went out as backup... we were all gonna go but you wouldn't wake up."

"And Andy?"

"He and Messi are working on his robot arm~" Tessa cut off as Aj's voice came through her earpiece.

The meeting had begun.

"Hey sis." Jay said from across the table. The two were at Jacob's favorite burger joint downtown. The place wasn't too big... the sitting area had nicely adorned walls, painted patterns running across 2 walls, a kitchen and cashier's counter were both set up against the third. And the fourth wall was made of glass, an open doorway leading to a large seating patio outside the restaurant. Couches and chairs where placed outside the entrance.

Aj normally met her brother here, or at her first house, normally a few times a week.

The guy might be an idiot, but he's one of the only family Aj had at the time...

"Hey bro," she mocked, "I haven't seen you all week..." she made sure to hide the concern in her tone.

"Ah yes.. I had to do some things, for EDG." He replied, "They sent me to do their dirty work. And, made sure to criticize me on the 'way i did it'...." Jacob ranted about his day torturing an agent and soon drifted off onto his useless chase on Danica and Andrew. Aj made sure to ask little questions about EDG as he went on and on.

"So BOOM! Chopped his arm right off. He didn't even see what hit him..." He chuckled,  and glanced at the food that had already arrived. Jacob proceeded to bite into his burger, having some of the sauce drip from the other side, while Aj munched on some fries.

Aj felt bad for the girls, who were all listening in on the conversation... And Jay's eating sound effects.

She had meant to get right to the point and get answers immediately... But Jacob would not shut up about his life, and the ranting wouldn't stop no matter how hard Aj tried. After multiple tries, she gave up and let him blab on, after apologizing into the ear piece as he spoke.

She sighed. Elbow on the table, she leaned on her hand and began drowning out Jacob's words once again.

A FEW HOURS LATER...

Danica tapped her earpiece annoyed, "Aj, is he anywhere close to telling us anything useful?"

Her voice came through the device a moment later.

"Nope... he's still talking. I don't even think he remembers that I'm here..." She sighed. "I'll try getting some info from him soon."

Danica frowned and looked across the room at Tessa, who was pouring herself coffee in Aj's kitchen.

"He's still blabbing."

"Of course he is..." She shook her head and walked over towards Danica, carrying two coffee mugs. She handed one to Danica and took a seat on the floor beside her.
