Rogue

Chapter 6:

For the past few days, Danica had been waiting for Andrew to either contact her or come meet her at the ski-lodge attic, which was exactly where she was now with a band of girls for her afternoon off.

She had heard that he'd been suspended, and hoped that he'd contact her during his time away from work, so she'd invited some friends to lunch at the attic.

It was a small group, consisting of only Danica and 3 others.

They had gotten closer over the months, all brought together due to their suspicion on EDG's motives.

"...And so the guy from the dinner last night, all show off, locked me in a closet after Jay ran over to Jake being the little henchman he is." The girl paused and popped a few pieces of popcorn in her mouth before continuing.

"He was definitely EDG... they have agents everywhere nowadays." Aj shook her head, clearing her thoughts to get back to the story.

She briefly explained the night before to her friends, being sure to exaggerate her brother's stupidity for working with Jake.

"So suppose Jacob does get captured..." Zora, the caramel-skinned girl with pink and brown hair asked, "Would you go and break him out from EDG?"

"Honestly Pink... I don't know. He might have a lot of flaws, but he's family. I can't just leave him to rot in a cell."

Zora nodded, nearly dropping her coffee as a rusted lamp tipped over near the staircase and Andy teleported in.

"Oh thank goodness... Andrew, I was hoping you'd come." Danica set down her own drink and nodded at an empty armchair, telling him to sit.

Aj's eyes widened in recognition. "IT'S HIM! THE GUY WHO LOCKED ME IN THE CLOSET!" She looked over towards Danica. "What the heck is he doing here?!"

"Well if I remember correctly, Danica told me to come. What are YOU doing here, sis?"

"Aj's been helping me for months now, she's on our side" Danica said, calmly.

Aj nodded. "Yeah. My idiot brother Jay isn't. I'm the only one keeping him from getting arrested each week."

"Woah Woah..." Tessa, the tan blonde stood from her seat beside Zora, dagger casually pointed at Andy as she interrupted. "Who's this guy?"

"Yeah." Zora stood up as well crossing her arms.

"He's the guy I asked for help to hack into the EDG mainframe," Danica said. She studied Tessa and Pink's faces for any signs of recognition.

"Really? You guys don't remember?"

"No.?"

"The one who works in the tech labs with his 'sidekick'..?" Tessa shook her head.

Sighing, Danica added, "The one with the huge ego."

"Oh yeah!" Zora's face lit up with recognition.

"What do you mean ego? I don't have one... if anything, Alpha has a-"

"Oh yes, ego indeed."

"Ego or not, he can really work a computer. Isn't that right Andy?" Danica asked.

"Yeah, I can. I'll do whatever you need, but I want to hear everything you know on EDG's 'secrets'... You know, transparency?"

"Alright, fine with me."

Everyone settled down. Andrew and Danica both took a seat in front of the coffee table, Tessa and Zora both took armchairs and Aj sat on the little stool beside the coffee table.
