Lexa POV

It's been a week since I got to Tondc. I feel like no progress has been made on the Mountain Men. We know they kidnapped our people, control the reaper and the acid fog. They have technology we do not understand. However, they must have a weakness. Something to give us the advantage.

I was looking at a map of the mountains when I heard a loud explosion unlike anything I've heard before. I rushed out of my tent to see what happened. I noticed everybody was looking at the sky and when I looked up I saw it. At first I thought it was a flaming rock crashing down but I noticed it looked man made. It crashed in the forest not too far.

"Heda, should I send scouts to investigate?" Indra asked as she approached me.

"No. I will go with Anya"

Indra's mouth opened for a second then closed like she decided not to express her disagreement with me. Smart.

"Heda, is that wise? We do not know what it is and it may be dangerous" Gustus asked as he approached.

"That is exactly why I must go." I sternly said. I noticed his brows furrowed and worry showed on his face. "Get Anya and meet me at the stables"

I entered my tent to grab a small map of the area and headed back out towards the stables. Anya and Gustus joined me and we rode through the trees towards the crash site. As we got closer I got off my horse. I turned to Gustus and signaled him to stay and guard the horse. Anya and I stalked closer to the site.

As we got near we hear alot of noise. It sounded like dozen of kids screaming and cheering. When we were close enough to observe what was happening, I perched myself against a tree and pulled out my map. I quickly marked the area and continued to watch below. It looked close to 100 kids. No way any of them were over 18 years old except maybe one. He has dark hair and a slim but built figure. I focused on his moves while the others acted like children running around. I assumed he would be their leader since he was not acting out like the others until a beautiful blonde hair girl walked out of their metal box. She quickly caught my attention. I was so focused on her face that I almost did not notice she had a map in her hand. She was clearly making a plan from the way she was focused on the map and her surroundings and not acting like the others. Maybe she is the leader.

The blonde gathered a small group and started leave the rest of the kids. I glanced over to Anya and gave her a look that said I was following her. Anya nodded and joined me.

While following the small group , I realized they were heading towards the Mountain Men. I started to wonder why when I heard screaming from the river. I watched while the loud brunette girl was being attacked by a water snake. I did not know one lived here and I made note to send warriors to kill it. I watched as the blonde
distracted the snake by using rocks to draw its attention; saving the girl. I was impressed by how smart the blonde is.

After a few moments watching the group decide how to cross the river safely, a boy with weird goggles on his head swung across and made it. They all started cheering and celebrating when a spear flew across and impaled him. I looked at Anya, eyes flared with anger and confusion. She looked just as confused.

"Find who did this." I growled "I will get Gustus and a healer for the boy."

Anya nodded and left. I quickly headed back to where Gustus was guarding.

"Get Lincoln and meet me at the river." I showed him on the map exactly where.

I headed back to the location. I hope the boy is alive and can be saved. When I arrived he was alive and still awake. I kneeled down by him. He was terrified. I looked at the spear impaled in his chest. It was almost dead center, slightly on the right side. He is lucky. Hopefully, Lincoln can save him.

It wasn't long before Lincoln and Gustus arrive. Lincoln quickly began working to save him.

"Heda, is this wise?" Gustus asked as we stepped back to give Lincoln room to work.

I just glared at him. I hate when people question me. He bowed his head and turned to check the area.

"This boy will live but it will be rough." Lincoln said as I kneeled down by the boy.
