I tiredly walked through the halls of the mansion. It had been about a week since Slenderman gave new orders, and we had gone on 6 missions. I was tired of going out there almost every day in the cold only to end a life.
I wasn't bait anymore, I had to do something. By now, I just did it, no use fighting. I had become numb to killing. It was just something I was told to do, that I couldn't question. I really didn't like it, but according to Slenderman, it had to be done.
I also had trouble sleeping. In my most recent dreams I would walk around in blackness. The ghosts of everyone that had died at the hand of a creepypasta fallowing me around, calling me a monster. I would run away from them for a while, then stop to see Percy. He would just look at me and ask if I was going to kill him. Then I would wake up.
I tiredly walked down the stairs. Lost in my own thoughts, I bumped into EJ, who was heading upstairs.
"Watch where you're going," He said coldly.
I didn't acknowledge him with anything but a flinch at the sound.
I finished going downstairs, then headed outside, letting the late February air clear my lungs. It smelled like blood in the mansion.
I just stood in the drudged air for a few minutes, grateful for the short time without responsibility.
"Nico?"
My eyes darted to the source of the voice. Sally had wandered out behind me.
I looked away. "What?" I asked.
"Why do you never wanna play?" She asked.
"I... I don't like the games," I answered hesitantly, shivers running up my spine.
"What games do you like?" She asked, cocking her head.
"Um..." I thought for a moment. It had been forever. When was the last time I had played a game that hadn't resulted in my near death. Sure there was playing with Ben, but I didn't like video games, even if I liked to spend time with him. "I don't know, it's been a while," I responded.
"How long?"
"Well... I played some games with my sister last year..."
"What games?"
"I used to like this card game, Mythomagic. It's stupid..."
"Oh,"
Sally skipped inside leaving me to my thoughts once more.
I sighed after a few minutes and got up. I turned around to head back in the mansion but saw Toby. I waved.
"Hey Nico,"
"Hi Toby,"
"I was actually just getting you, Slender's sending the group out again,"
I groaned. Another mission? We haven't even seen anything since that one time I spotted the rake. Why does he keep sending us out to look?!
I trudged into the mansion without another word. Taking the switchblade, that I had started to carry at all times, out of my pocket.
I arrived at Slenderman's office and sat down next to Jeff, who was already waiting there with Ben. Toby walked in and sat down as well.
I just sent Masky and Hoodie out to scout the East side of the forest. I want you to split up and cover the South and West. Got it?
We nodded.
