Hey guys,
If you watched my Youtube video last week, then you would know that I'm not exactly ecstatic about the way Fixed At Her Teen turned out, and I've had a couple of weeks to think about what I'm going to do about that. There is just so many things to reconsider in Ivy's story and I guess it's taken me this long to see it because I've just hadn't had time to stop between each book I've written to consider everything. The longest break I've taken between books is 6 months which is to get me started on the next book, so I haven't exactly taken a break from writing. I'm starting to think I'm not sure that I can or know how to take a break from writing, which is fine by me because I love coming up with new stories and writing a love story from a different point of view every time.
If you've been with me from the start, that is, my first book on Wattpad, The Beginning of The End. From that very first book till Broken, my on-going book, you'll see how I've grown as a writer which reflects in every book and the characters as well. I want to thank each and everyone of you that dropped a comment in this version of Fixed At Her Teen because you're the reason this massive change is happening.
So, what am I going to do?
First thing you should know is that Fixed At Her Teen will no longer be a sequel to Her Adopted Baby's Daddy. Wait. Wait. Wait. Just hear me out. I can't change the foundation of this story because it is based on a fixed marriage, that is the main point of the story. If I take that out, we don't have a story. So, the only thing I can do is make Fixed At Her Teen another couple's story and... write a new story for Ivy!Yes! I'm excited too. I can't wait to get started on it but... as most of you know, I'm already working on a new book, Broken. You all know how I like to complete my stories before moving to the next one. I've tried the whole "writing a new story between another one" once before and let's just say it's not for me. Broken is a new era of my writing and I want to give it my full focus. Hopefully, I'm able to complete it by the end of the year and get started on Ivy's new journey.
I've been going through all your comments here and let's just say I am so thankful to have you guys as readers because you're the reason I've improved as a writer. Your suggestions and criticisms are what push me to be better, so thank you.
Someone in the comment said the name 'Dave Connor' is pretty boring which made me laugh and also wonder what name you guys would prefer for Ivy's love interest. I know you guys have gotten to know Ivy probably even deeper than I have, so drop a comment and let me know what names you would like. If you're about to drop a comment, please go through the other name ideas to consider before dropping yours. It would be easier for me if I had a few options to consider rather than too many name suggestions. So if someone comments a name that you like, reply to that comment with a 'yes' or 'agree' or 'second that'. Don't worry, we have till the end of the year to come up with a name suitable to match Ivy's.
Another comment I saw was about how depressing this story is because of the arranged marriage. I'm sorry if you feel that way but it happens in real life. I'm half-Asian (Indian) and half-African (Nigerian) and I'm glad my parents' cultures balance them out and I don't have to go through what a lot of Indian girls do. But I know people and have friends who had arranged marriages. But if you don't support it, that's you and honestly, I'm happy that not everyone has to go through that.
Another major thing I've seen is Ivy's grandparents, from her biological mother's side. YES! You guys that brought it up ROCK! I'll make sure to add it in her new story and dive deeper into that side of her family tree. Over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to go through ALL the comments and note down anything I have to consider for Ivy's next story. Till then, if there's anything you would like me do differently, reconsider or keep in mind for her next story, please drop those comments here.
This version of Fixed at Her Teen is going to be the same story and same title, but the chracters' names are going to change and that's about it. I hope some of you guys can eventually stop coming at me for giving Ivy a 'depressing' story.
Alright guys, that's pretty much it. I have no idea how to thank you for reading and for the comments that pushed me to make this change. I appreciate you guys more than you can imagine. Thank you so very much! I was looking forward to getting started on my next book after Broken but that would have to wait while we dive into Ivy's new story.
With that said, please do watch the video where I talked about Fixed at Her Teen and my other books. Also, if you enjoy my content, please do subscribe.
If you've read Fixed at Her Teen previously, then I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys back here for the improved and edited version. If you're a new reader, welcome, and read at your own risk. If you see the 'Editing Completed' chapter, then it's safe to read. If the 'Editing Completed' chapter isn't there, then you can add it to your library and wait till I finishing editing and upload that chapter. Or you can read the unedited version.
Alright, that's it. I have to go work on Broken's new chapters and try to edit a few chapters of Fixed at Her Teen. Hope to see you guys over on Broken.
Lots of Love,
Jane Lanett. ❤️
