33| Something Different

Noel sat at her desk, flipping through documents, searching for the last pieces of her project to end her night. "I can't find it!" She exclaimed.

"Noel, calm down. I'm sure it's in here somewhere. Breathe, honey." Jin spoke as he sat across from her, browsing through his paperwork as well.

"I'm getting a headache, Jin. We've been at this for hours." Noel huffed, giving up on her search.

Jin peered down at his watch for the time. "Yeah, it's almost eight."

Noel nodded as she organized her files. Jin's heart thumped as he admired her. A subtle smile hugged his lips, staring at the girl he's grown to like more and more since they've ceased their arrangement. "Since it's late, maybe we should grab a bite to eat. I don't know about you, but I'm about to starve." He nervously patted the hair behind his head as he spoke.

Noel gasped as she lifted her gaze to him. "Jin..."

"I-I meant as friends. Is there something wrong with two friends going out to eat?" He countered.

"There isn't, but if we went out to eat even as friends, it would mean something different to you." Noel explained.

"We were only sleeping together for over six months, Noel." He placed his hand on hers. "Of course it would mean something different to me." Jin spoke.

Noel pulled her hand back from him. "I can't. I'm sorry."

Jin sighed. "Noel..."

A low knock on Noel's door alerted her attention. She smiled at the figure standing in the doorway. "Tae." She spoke.

"Of course." Jin mumbled, but Noel heard him and frowned before she stood up from her desk and walked toward her visitor.

Taehyung wore a curious glance at Noel's company before his eyes fell on her. "Am I interrupting?"

"Of course not. Jin and I were working, but I think we have both exercised our brains enough for the night. Come in." Noel took him by the hand and led him further into the office. "Jin, you remember Taehyung?" Noel reacquainted.

Jin stood up to face them. "Right. The best friend." He nodded.

Taehyung slightly scowled at his remark. "I'm sorry. Who were you to Noel again?" He cocked his brow.

Noel's mouth parted in a surprised gasp at Taehyung's sass. "Tae?" She called as she softly jerked his hand.

Jin grinned dismissively. "I'll just be going then. See you Noel."

Noel mustered a corner smile as she watched Jin leave her office. Her gaze fell back to Taehyung. "What was that about?"

"He still wants you." Taehyung blurted.

Noel sighed. "The feeling isn't mutual. I want you." Her eyes wandered his, hoping he could see the truth in her response.

Taehyung smiled at the confirmation. "I'm sorry. It just made me a little jealous seeing him here."

Noel's eyes widened. She smiled as she pulled Taehyung's arms around her waist. "You know, admitting your feelings to me without us fighting about it is a little sexy." Her arms circled his neck.

Taehyung gripped his lip with his teeth. "Hmm, is there a reward for my candor?"

"Of course." Noel whispered before she pressed her lips against his. Chills ran through her with every caress of his kiss. She eased away and grinned. "I'm happy you came by. How was your dinner?"

"We can talk about it later. Right now I want to be home with you." Taehyung spoke low as his lips hovered over hers.

Noel exhaled as she shook her head in disbelief at the fact she was in her office hugged up with Taehyung like this. The reality of it made her smile. "This is different." She spoke.

Taehyung tilted his head. "What is?"

"This. Us. I'm not used to this. It's been sometime since I had a boyfriend and the one I had, I sort of ran away from." Noel explained.

Taehyung pulled her closer, causing a slight whimper to elude her. "Are you planning to run away from me Elle, hm?"

"Of course not. I don't think I would have the strength to even if I tried." She breathed as her heart accelerated.
