About Eight Months Ago

Taehyung sat on his bed after a hot, relaxing shower. His day kept him on his feet for most hours as he prepared for his move to Seoul in the weeks to come. His mind went into checklist mode as he grabbed his phone, filtering through his schedule for unfinished tasks and reminders.

During his reading, an alert from Jungkook molded his blushed lips to a smile. He fell back on his bed while reading the message, but soon a tiny pout took the place of his grin. Jungkook was heading back to the city tonight but promised this weekend with him. He was already missing him and his heart raced, anticipating their time together soon. Another reminder dinged, jolting Taehyung as he sat up.

Before his shower, he solicited a text message to Noel, the young lady Namjoon spoke of him rooming with. Apprehension swayed in his thoughts while the memory of his conversation with his cousin replayed to him.

It wasn't an issue of trust because besides being his cousin, Namjoon was also one of his best friends, a very sound minded individual who he admired. Deep down, he knew it had more to do with having someone of the opposite sex as a roommate.

The only woman he has ever been close to was his sister and his relationship with his mother wasn't the best. Sure, he made acquaintances with women throughout his life, but with limited interactions, and he kept it that way. An idea of cohabiting one damn near terrified him; the woman who birthed him has made his life a nightmare and twisted his trust.

Having the opportunity to move away and generate a fresh start in a new area excited him in many ways. This would allow him to break away from the constant cloud of negativity hanging above him. Jungkook was the one tinge of happiness he held onto, and he prayed for more blessings like this to come his way. Maybe this could be one of them.

He gulped as he open the message from her. The greeting seemed polite, and he reciprocated the same sentiment. Taehyung nibbled on his fingers as he waited for her to respond. Another alert rung.

He opened it, lips mumbling the message while hearing his heartbeat sync with every word read. Swallowing deeply, he responded to her, leaving the chat open to see her reply. The tiny little bubble appeared in the corner of the phone and he watched it anxiously as his hands formed tiny particles of perspiration. Taehyung released a deep gasp as her response appeared. His thoughts now incoherent as he prepared himself for the next few moments of his life. Depending on how this goes could dictate an important aspect in beginning a new life in the city, his home life.

The shrill sound of his ringer jarred him, reminding him he wasn't breathing, as he let out a light cough. He took a deep breath before answering the call. "Hello?" His voice was rich, smooth flowing; a tone he would use to relay professionalism.

"H-Hi, Taehyung? This is Noel." Hearing the slight stutter in her voice comforted him a bit, knowing that she was a tad nervous as well.

An hour had passed since the call.

Taehyung became more comfortable with her the more he traded words with her in conversation. He even smiled, listening to her sweet voice. She even made him laugh a few times. "So, Noel, I would love to meet you and your place. It hear it's amazing."

"Hmm, amazing? That's generous of Namjoon to say. It's nice at best, but you can be the judge of that. Tell me when you're coming back to the city."

Taehyung had no plans to visit soon, but something was tugging him to go soon. He felt inviting towards to Noel and was now eager to meet her. "How about tomorrow? Is that too soon?" He offered.

Noel graciously agreed and told him she would text him the address. Their conversation concluded as they wished their goodnights before hanging up. Taehyung fell back on his bed and smiled again, feeling relieved that their first chat was better than he imagined. His heart fluttered at this being the start of something new.
