Yami/atem x reader: I will always be there

chapter 8: it's time

Y/n POV
It's been a few months since I officially became queen. Atem's birthday is tomorrow. I've been planning for weeks. The only thing that will interfere is if I deliver tomorrow. I really hope that doesn't happen. My last doctors appointment he told me that the babies had dropped and I've felt Braxton Hicks but nothing to serious yet.

I have palace servents and guards helping me set up for the party tomorrow night. We chose a room Atem doesn't go in very often. I also got in contact with Yugi, Tèa, Joey and Tristan. They all made it and are at a hotel that I'm paying for them. I'm glad they will be here.

After a few hours of working, the decorations are done. I head to the kitchen to talk to the chef about a cake. He already has a cake in mind and will make enough for everyone. I'm so excited. After I finish talking to the chef I head to the hotel where our friends are staying. Atem has no idea they are here. He's going to be shocked.

I get to the hotel and I see Yugi, Tèa, Tristan and Joey right there. "guys!" I call. "Y/n!" They call and come up to me. Yugi is pushing a wheelchair bound Tèa since she had a back injury from her accident several months back. I give them a hug as best as I can with my enormous stomach. "It's great to see you y/n" Yugi says. "We all missed you" Tèa says. "Yeah, we hadn't seen you since your wedding" Joey says. "I still can't believe you guys are having twins" Tristan says. I laugh. "It's great to see you all too. How Serenity doing Joey?" I ask. "She's doing good. She has a boyfriend now but she won't tell me who it is." He says. Tristan starts whistling. "TRISTAN!!! ITS YOU!?!?" Joey yells. "I'm sorry man. I should have told you sooner. I promise I won't hurt her" Tristan says. "Fine. But if you break that promise I will hurt you" Joey says. I shake my head.

After a few hours at the hotel I head back to the palace. I know Atem won't notice I was gone since I've been taken off queen duties until the babies come. He thinks I just walk around the palace and got to the garden from time to time. I go to our room to see Atem there, standing on our balcony overlooking the desert. "Atem" I say. He jumps and turns to me. "y/n! You scared me" he says placing his hand over his heart. "Sorry" I say. "It's alright" he says and turns back to look at the desert. I go up to him. "Everything alright?" I ask. "Just thinking about my father. I know it would be impossible for him now but, I would have loved for him to meet his grandchildren" he says. I smile. "I know what you mean." I say and kiss his cheek. He smiles kneels down on his knee. He kissed my stomach. "I can't wait until you get here. I promise to protect you as long as I can" he says. I laugh. I look at the time. "It's getting late. Let's get to bed." I say. He nods and we change into our pajamas. I have to wear a night gown for that's the only thing that will fit while pregnant. I lay down with my back turned away from Atem. It's just more comfortable to sleep that way. Atem comes behind me and wraps his arms around me with a hand on my stomach. "Good night my queen" he says. "Goodnight pharaoh" I mumble as I fall asleep.

Atem POV
I'm woken up hours later by y/n shaking me. I feel the bed is wet. I notice y/n holding her stomach. She looks like she's in pain.  "Honey, what is it?" I ask tiredly. "I-I think i-its time!" She says. I quickly get up. "Breathe y/n" I say. "Go get the doctor. There should be time" she says calmly. I nod and run to the doctors room. I tell him y/n is in labor. We both run back to our room. The doctor has his medical bag with him. On the way back I hear a loud scream. Y/n! We reach the room and get in. Y/n is breathing heavily and you can see she's in pain. I go to her and grab her hand. "It's okay y/n, the doctor is here" I say. She nods and clutches her stomach. I grab a cloth I know I'll need. I kiss her forhead as the doctor checks her.

Y/n POV
I'm breathing hard as the doctor looks. I am in so much pain I just want the babies out. "Alright your highness, your fully dilated" he says. I nod. "At your next contraction, you need to push." He says. It doesn't take long before I feel the contraction and I push. I'm screaming but I'm mentality counting to 10. It hurts really bad. I'm surprised I didn't stop the push right away with how bad it hurt. After 10 seconds I stop the push and I'm panting. Atem has my hand in his. "Push!" The doctor orders. I push again and I mentality count to 10 again.
