chapter 11: war

Atem's POV
It's the day I have to leave y/n to set up training camp. I'll be helping train new troops for the first week, then, I'll ride off to another part of Egypt and set up another camp while we are at war. I will not be a king who sits back and have others fight for him. I'll be fighting head on with Bakura. I have no doubt that Bakura has some sort of army. I'm currently loading up horses and camels for the journey. Y/n is tending to the twins, but I will go say goodbye to her and the twins before I leave. It could be the last time I see them for a while. There is a chance I could die. I hope not. Yes I may have been given a second chance, but I doubt that God would give a third. I really don't want to think about it honestly.

Once the troops and my appointed general are ready, I go find y/n. As I enter the castle, I take in my surroundings. I'm going to miss it here. I did technically grow up here. I get brought out of my thoughts when y/n and the twins come in the throne room. She smiled and comes to me. She kissed me and hugs me as best as she can with the twins. "Please come home safe my love" she says in tears. I hug her. "I'll do everything in my power to do so. The first week is training the first set of troops, then, we go to war." I say. She nods. I kiss her. "Your highness, it's time" Mahad as the dark magician says. I turn and nod. I give her one last kiss and leave to get on my white stallion. I put on my calm and collected face. "Move out" I say. Everyone fallows me to the desert. I find the perfect place for training camp and we set Everything up.

I decided to try something from Mulan, I set up a huge pole and shoot an arrow in the top of it. I also grab weights that will hang from the arms of the troops. The troops weren't getting it right away. "This might take more than I week" I think to my self. Then I come up with another idea. I start singing.

That made our troops motivated. Yes, even the woman were in on it.

It's a week later and the first set of troops are ready. I appointed a captain to train the next set. In the meantime, the first set and I went to a new camp that my general set up while I helped train the new troops.

We arrive at camp and when I get there, the general gives me a report. "Bakura definitely has an army, and he has many duel monsters with him." He says. Mahad as the dark magician comes out with Mana as dark magician girl. "Then it's good we have our own" Mahad says. "This would be easier with blue eyes on our side" I say. "Then it's a good thing I'm here" I hear behind me. I turn and see Seto. Along with Yugi and Joey. "Guys? What are you doing here?" I ask. "We came to help. Seto told us you needed help fighting Bakura again." Yugi says. I smile. "Thank you my friends" I say. "We think there will be an attack tomorrow, so we need to be prepared." My general says. "Oh, I contacted Pegasus, and he found a way to make these again, but this time they didn't give him trouble. He made them for you." Seto says handing me three cards. It's the three cards I haven't used since the ceremonial duel with Yugi. The Egyptian god cards. I put them in my deck. "Let's go this" I say.

The next day we wake up early and get ready for battle, both regular fighting, and dueling. I'm going over my deck when I notice f/m. That's y/n favorite monster card. I wonder how it got in my deck. I remember using it for my birthday, but that was it. Then, I find a note on my duel disk that I didn't notice before. It read,

"Atem,
If you're reading this then you found my favorite card. I knew I couldn't come due to the twins, but I thought I'd still help with my card. It's powerful and I feel it will help. Be safe my love. And always remember, believe in the heart of the cards and you will win

I cried knowing she had my back. I put on my duel disk and go to my horse. "I think I know where he will strike first. Come on, we have a world to save" I say. Everyone gets on their own horses. I get on mine and ride. After an hour of riding, I see Bakura and his army. He has that smug look on his face he always had. "You will never get my kingdom Bakura!" I yell. "That remains to be seen. Diabound, come forth" he calls. I know there's only three creatures who can stand against them. But can I draw them. You see, since this isn't a traditional duel, I can summon any monster I want and as many as I need. Please, heart of the cards, guide me. I close my eyes and draw three cards. Sure enough I draw all three cards I need.

"I call obelisk the tormentor,Slither the sky dragon, and the winged dragon of Ra!" I yell. "What! I thought those didn't exist anymore." Bakura yelled. "Just for this fight" I say. "Slither, Thunder Force attack!" I yell.

Then, both sides charge. I take out my sword. Me and Bakura are face to face."I'll finally get my revenge, and take your kingdom" he laughs. " You won't touch my kingdom. I restored Kul Elna." I say. "I'm taking about the one when your father ruled." He says. We clash swords. "My uncle did that to your village, my father didn't know until years later. He felt horrible when he found out" I yelled. "Lies!" He yelled. I didn't see the second sword until it was too late. He stabs me in the stomach. "Pharaoh!!!!" I hear Mahad yells. He fly's over to me. "My king, hang on" he says. "M..Mahad.." I say weakly. Then everything goes black.
