nina sipped coffee as her mind solved a plethora of problems. the rough part of recording for their documentary was over according to Donald, so he had contacted an editor to do a sort of first draft and had assured her anxious mind that it'd be ready for Sundance Film Festival. so then came Adam's part of coordinating with other assistants and setting details for their stay in Park City, including whoever wanted to tag along. then Tom texted her with false indignation over his sweater, Z and the girls blowing up their respective chats. she had been so caught up in her own little world that Amélia's arrival nearly went unnoticed from her semi hidden booth in the corner.

the Brazilian girl had arrived early for their set time, knowing Nina's anxiety would make her show up soon. her finger nervously tapped a mug while she sat at a table in the front, waiting for meeting number one. how could her life had gone downhill so fast? that thing should have been over and done after a wild night of partying but as soon as their eyes met in the airport, Amélia knew there still were some feelings there. Marina couldn't tell what was more shocking: seeing Daniel enter and go straight to her friend to kiss her or how hot coffee felt when it spilled on jeans.

"well at least I know what happened." her voice got cold, professional even, just as it did in businesses meetings. Amélia knew exactly what happened. "don't even tell me it's not what it seems."

the apologetic looking couple followed her back to the booth, knowing the girl well enough to know she'd hate to cause more of a scene. Nina's head reeled from all the moving and knowing things.

Marina Miranda was a kind of controlling person, though she'd just say she learned from Amy Santiago. in all of her twenty years of life, she'd developed a water tight plan to dealing with sudden problems.

step one: collect all available information.

"when did this start?" cold, detached voice and a poker face.

"for real? when we got back from LA, I met him at a store." for real meant something bad happened before, marina made sure to voice that thought.

"the first time was a lot longer ago." Daniel's answer was nonchalant as only he could be, a trait she'd once loved but now brought an unsettling feeling. if they had broken up five months ago, a lot longer could only mean one thing. realization dawned on both girls.

"you cheated on me." Amélia looked down while her friend tried to remember an occasion such thing could have happened. "both of you."

"Nin, it's not like that..." the Brazilian tried to mend because the other option was losing her friend.

"explain to me how it is not like that?" she began to gather her things to leave, putting a tip on the desk. "you know, I am not often surprised because I plan every aspect of my life. I knew you had the capability of doing this Daniel, in fact it was expected, but Amélia... you hurt me. and it'll take time for me to get over it, so meanwhile you can both enjoy each other's company knowing you lost mine."

(my girl is classy af and I was gonna have a flashback to when it happened but they are a little overused as plot devices.)
