With a major high suck as that fight, you could imagine how much of a slow decline the rest of the punishment was.

Detention was a blur for me, with the awkward tension between us all being more of a punishment for me than being in school on a Saturday with people from all different walks of life. I forgot why I was here and what I did and now I was being punished for being born and having someone to stand up for me rather than skipping class to go to work.

It was slow but towards the end, where we all gathered into clusers of groups t got like it does at the end of the movie where at first you're wishing time away but then shocked with wow it's been 2 hours already?

That was the time we stopped counting time and started to listen and speak up.

"What do you need a fake id for?"

"So I can vote."

Brian turned out to be an interesting character with more flaws and more stupidity than what you would expect from a nerd. His chamring, shy and sometimes reckless perosnality showed that he was not cut out for the job his parents wer eforcing him in, that he wasn't destined to be a nerd. It wasn't right.

"Do you always carry this much shit in your bag?"

"Yeah, I always carry this much shit in my bag. You never know when you may have to jam."

Another interesting character to say the least was Allison, someone who I had only seen around school a handful of times and that would'nt dare be visible enough to get herself into detention. The only thing she could posisbly be punished for is being invisible. Yet she was cool, mocking Claire at any opportunity with loud luaghter.

"Are all these your girlfriends?"

"Some of them..."

Bender was really conforming to the stereotype he had been pushed under by others and perosnllay it was getting alittle tired. He clung to my sister like glue, loving the way she flucked her hair to the side purposefully exposing her pale neck. When earlier he was shocked with her harshness towards me, now he was swimming in it, drowning- looking at me with double the malice as her just because.

"He's got a nudie picture in there! I saw it, it's perverted!"

"Alright, let's see it!"

Andrew was the only person I could attach myself to in this room and not think twice baout it. I didn't hae to think about what I said, afrad that it would sound weird or offend anyone. I just spoke, he laughed or smiled and sometimes replied. We didn;t have to talk just stand next to eachother. He was a kind soul, not wanting to be the label he was gven at birth when his parents found out he was a boy but at the same time it's all he's ever known.

I wonder if he'd look at me once monday mornign?

Claire stoped her remakrs after Andrew's outburst but that didn;t mean that she stopped saying those horrible htings. Her looks towrads me spoke even louder than her words and each itme she glanced at me she was screaming.

I didn't know if it was Andrw who did it or the weed she was currently smoking with the rest of us. It wasn't my first time in that rodeo but my sister brought shame to the family name as she practiclaly coughed it all up.

"Chicks cannot handle der smoke ! That's what it is," Brian or wa sit even him spoke with a outful of smoke, hiding bloodshot eyes behind some 'cool' sunglasses that lived on Bender's crown.

We all laughed, the joy dying as Claire rambled about her populairty as background noise to me but the headlines for everyone else.

I felt the lack of Clark in the air, looking over my shoulder from our mini circle only to see him emerging from a room covered in smoke. The rock music from the stero that Brian hooed up for us was perfcetly timed to his head nods and none of us, not even Claire could guess what would happen next.
