Sometimes good things tend to fall apart.
Sometimes they fall apart when you least expect it for example when your phone dies and you're wasting coins on a call you never wish you made in the first place.
That was me.
"I'm sorry Y/N but I just can't see us going anywhere in the future."
The plastic phone was freezing against my ears as my face turned white.
"Theo..."
"No, darling you don't understand. You're so amazing but there's someone else that I've been interested in for a while now so..." he makes me sympathise by uttering in the sweetest tones however my heart continues to break.
"Someone else? Is it Janice? Was this happening while we- Fuck Theo I trusted you, you were my first time. How could you use me like this?"
I tried my best to remain strong but the tears couldn't help but surface as I began to question whether or not I was actually good enough. If he didn't want me, an asshole, who would? How many excuses of his towards me were truly because he was spending time with her?
"It's not like that ba-"
"Goodbye forever, asshole."
With all my might, I slammed the phone back into its slot. Luckily there wasn't anyone in the queue behind me but even if there was, I wouldn't have cared. I slammed the phone repeatedly, picturing them both as I pass them in the mall weeks from now, laughing with their adopted cat.
I exhale, putting my head on the bottom. The coldness of the metal was the only truly not overpowering feeling that I felt at that moment.
I'm sure he was sitting there right now with her on his slap as they giggled at the pain in my voice like it was a dirty prank call. When guys do it, they feel nothing, they move on, it was as if nothing happened. But, I could already see the lasting impact it would have on me if I didn't get ahold of myself right this second.
At the end of the day, I knew it was going to hurt but I knew it wouldn't last.
Thunder pierced the bright blue sky over and over. The sky was so pretty and blue that day it was impossible for it to be storming as hard. The lightning striking down around the phone box was an electric blue and looked lethal to the touch.
When I felt the box star to rumble, I knew this was no storm.
Suddenly, my sneakers were no longer touching the phonebox that was touching the ground. I was midair, being shot through clumps of misty clouds and typically sci-fi looking holes and corridors.
Was I in a movie?
Was this a prank by Theo?
I stayed in the corner, even when the doors reopened inside of a different location.
My head peeped out to see a garage with posters and instruments and weir vintage gadgets that were in super mint condition. This stuff would get me a shit ton on eBay.
There's a dusty camera facing a vandalised wall stating 'wild stalliyns'. I hoped it was spelt that way to be ironic...
"Who are you?"
----
"So basically he told me there was this other girl and that he was more interested in her then I had this like totally cool badass moment where I said 'Goodbye forever, asshole."
