Cody's POV:
On my way home to Angel, there was a blockade of people in the road. I slow to a crawl in my car. My wolf on high alert, as he feels uneasy about this.
I put the car in reverse, intending to back up and turn around, when my door is riped open. I am then pulled out of the car, and quickly pinned to the ground and cuffed in silver.
Burning my skin, I growl out in anger, as I am then pulled up to my feet. "Beta Cody," a voice says, walking through the small crowd. I growl, as it's Alpha Marcus Jones of the Black lake pack.
I look at him defiantly, as he's not my Alpha. He smirks, "you know what I want and I'll use you to get her" he says. I growl, knowing he's been trying to convince Alpha Josh for Angelica's hand.
Marcus lost his mate years ago, and has been wanting to take another. His died before he got to meet her, so his pain didn't kill him as the bond wasn't set.
My wolf growls, "mine, my mate," he says. "I know buddy, he'll never lay a hand on her," I reassure my wolf. My wolf huff's in satisfaction, but then I worry. "I hope she doesn't feel our pain," he wimpers in worry.
The trip took longer than expected by Alpha Josh, taking four days instead of an easy two, but it was my duty, even though I never got a dance with my previous, Angel at her birthday party.
"Now you'll deliver a message for me, that I will have her as mine," Alpha Marcus says. And then starts to beat me. I hold my cries of pain, my wolf growling and wanting a fair fight.
When he was done, I laid on the ground, in a bloody mess, as I was then uncuffed and left to my pain, of various cuts, slashes, and broken bones.
I crawl back to my car, that remains running, as I didn't turn it off. I pull myself into it, painfully. The need to get home strong, as I fear for Angelica.
I pull the door shut, as I try and block my pain, from bothering me. I put my car into drive, and speed towards home, desperate to keep Angelica safe.
When I got service on my phone, I called Alpha Josh. His office phone going to voice mail. "Damn it," I yell, as I step on the gas. I try his cell phone and it does the same thing.
"What if she felt our pain and that's what he's doing is taking care of her," my wolf says worriedly. I press harder on the gas, needing to be there for her.
I call Alpha Josh again an hour into my drive, and he finally answers. "Cody, where have you been," he growls, worriedly. "I was ambushed, Alpha Marcus, he.... he's after her," I exclaim.
Alpha Josh growls menacingly, "he can't have her," he says. I growl in agreement, as she's mine and no one else's. "Ours," my wolf says, correcting me.
"Are you safe to drive," he asks. "I have to be, but I'll be there as soon as possible," I tell him, only having an hour drive as I am speeding. "Ok....," He says, but I sense concern in his voice.
"How is she," I ask out of instinct. "She's sedated, she felt everything you felt," Alpha says, worry lacing his words. At this point my foot is all the way down on the gas, "I'll be home in twenty minutes," I tell him, hanging up the phone.
"I'm coming baby," I say to myself, as I speed down the road, driving around can at lightning speed, in a hurry to get to her.
