Katie's POV
"What kind of plan is this?" I seriously doubted it would be one that Daniel would approve of, and I wasn't quite sure I was ready to completely rebel against him.
"I think it is one that can remain a secret for a little while. So, you don't like the rules that Daniel has given you?" He pulled me a little closer to him and lowered his voice.
"No, I don't," I whispered back. "Now, hurry up and tell me the plan."
"Well, I thought I could start fake-dating you. We would keep it a secret from Daniel for a little bit. And then, when you really feel like pissing him off, you can break it to him or I can."
I didn't think I wanted to be in a relationship, but what harm could a fake one do to me? Also, he was sort of cute.
"Ok. The only reason I'm agreeing to this is that I want to get back at Daniel and show him he's not my boss."
"Fine. But I set the terms of this relationship. You let me know when you think it's time to tell him, and then we'll take it from there."
"My instinct is telling me this is a bad idea, but I'm going to go along with it. For now at least."
He frowned and took ahold of my hand.
"Why do you look so scared right now? Do I frighten you or something?"
"No," I stammered. "I'm just scared of getting caught, and also I know this is fake but I'm still scared of getting hurt."
"I'm not going to force you to do anything you're not comfortable with." He smiled at me. "Please try to relax."
"Ok," I said. "I'm going to go take a shower now."
"Ok, see you later, babe." He winked.
Babe? Good grief.
