The next day at Mr. Sterlings office, August was introduced to Mr. Leone, Mr. Sterlings personal barista trainer. August sat her bag down and shook his hand, giving him a wide smile "morning" she greeted them both. "Morning" Mr. Leone greeted back."Today is another simple day for you August, Mr. Leone is here to teach you how to fix all of my favorite drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. He specializes in coffees but he's been working with alcoholic for over ten years and makes my drinks the way I like them. Since you're my PA, you'll have to fix my drinks and give them to me whenever I request. I've set you guys up in the employees lounge with everything you need. Take your time learning the drinks, you've got all day."
Mr. Leone and August made their way to the employees lounge and then into the break room which was connected. Some people get the two mixed up but the break room kitchen appliances while the employees lounge held a array of couches, two tall tables, two TVs, a rack of magazines and a cabinet of board games. Rum told August that they hardly ever used the lounge but on occasion, when Mr. Sterling had free days for the company, they'd come into the lounge and have a game day.
"We're going to start with cold non alcoholic drinks first, then work our way up." Mr. Leone explained, he then went onto showing August how to make the sweetest lemonade she'd ever tasted.
"Mr. Sterling is a fan of sweets so most of his cold drinks hold a lot of sugar, I've got the measurements for them written down in a booklet that I'll give you when we are done. Follow the instructions and the drinks will taste good, don't follow them and he might be a little bit cranky." Mr. Leone explained.
"When Mr. Sterling asks for something specific then it means he's craving it, he'll get angry if it's done wrong. I should know, I was his butler for five years." He chuckled. "But he's a very sweet man and loves to reward people when they do something right, he hates bullshít and he hates losing money which is why he doesn't have many females around anymore. He's not sexist but because of his money and his good looks, the females that worked here always found a way to develop a crush on him. It's really astonishing seeing the long list of female employees that have lost him more money then he can make back but Mr. Sterling loves a challenge and always brings back the money he lost."
"How many employees would you estimate have been fired since he started bringing in money?" August asked, she was curious and had been since she stepped foot into the building.
"Estimation?" He hummed thoughtfully, "around seventy five hundred." August coughed up the lemonade she was tasting and gasped out loud "seven thousand and five hundred?" She wheezed. Mr. Leone only laughed at her shocked expression.
"It may have been more but that's all that I can think of at the minute" he chuckled, "most of the girls that work here either already have a husband or are lesbian, there is only a small percentage that are single but they all carry baggage and don't want a relationship right now."
"Anyways!" He exclaimed "next is the variety of lemonade you can make. Strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, peach, blackberry, cherry etc. those that I have listed are his favorites but he will change up the flavors on occasion, mostly during holidays." Mr. Leone showed August how to prep the fruits beforehand and add them into the lemonade. It was easy and she quickly got the hang of it, immediately making notes to have fresh fruit instead of frozen and to always add the fruits into the mixture before you add liquid.
Peach, raspberry and strawberry were one of her favorites. BlackBerry was a little on the bitter side, cherry had an aftertaste of cough syrup.
Mr. Leone showed August how Mr. Sterling liked his coffee. He explained to her that Mr. Sterling didn't stick to a particular type of coffee because of his busy schedule. Sometimes he needed more caffeine then a latte could give him and other times he didn't something sweet and warm to calm him down: Mondays were the busiest so Mr. Sterling drank his coffee black, Tuesday's and Wednesday he liked two cubes of sugar with one thirds of a cup of vanilla, Thursday's he opted for water and juice, Friday's he drank two shots of espresso in the morning, one during lunch and a cup of hot coco in the evening. During Christmas Mr. Sterling liked to add homemade hot chocolate to his coffee.
When August and Mr. Leone finished up their non alcoholic beverages, the clock had struck 3pm and Mr. Leone offered to take August out for dinner before they dealt with alcohol. A full stomach helped absorb alcohol better.
"Thank you for taking me out" August blushed as she looked over the menu. They were only a handful of restaurants down from her work place but August felt honored he asked, they hardly knew each other and he was going to pay for her meal.
"It's no problem, do you see anything you like?" Mr. Leone laid his menu down and watched August look over hers. They were at a hole in the wall pizza shop and all of the pizzas looked good. "Hmm" she hummed, "maybe pepperoni pizza with jalapeños?" Just the thought of it made Augusts' stomach rumble. She loved spicy foods especially spicy chili. "Jalapeño?" He questioned, August nodded. "I like spicy food, it warms my stomach."
After ordering their food August and Leone fell into a comfortable conversation, one of which involved August telling Mr. Leone how she moved to LA and the other being Mr. Leone's divorce.
