As the months went by August and Mr. Sterling had been spending more and more time together. August was at his house regularly and his maids now knew her name and to let her in whenever she came by. On the fifth month of her working with Mr. Sterling, she received a key to his house and a code to get past his gate without them having to call Mr. Sterling to confirm her arrival.

Currently she was sitting on his stool in nothing but a pair of pajama bottoms and a tight, purple, thin spaghetti strap shirt typing away on the latest MacBook Mr. Sterling upgraded her with. "August" Mr. Sterling came into the kitchen, August sat the pen she held between her fingers down and continued to type as she hummed, "yeah?"

"It's late, would you like to stay over? I have many guest rooms you can choose from" Alec offered. August stopped typing and turned to him, Alec wore grey sweatpants which outlined his bulge to the max and a wife beater that sculpted his upper body. "Hmm" she hummed "no, I'm good" she smiled sheepishly, a blush exploding on her creamy cheeks. "You sure? It's midnight and you've been working all day, I'm sure you're tired. I'll have Loren set up a room for you, in the mean time, I'm hungry" Alec rubbed his stomach and walked over to the fridge. August stood and placed her hand on the fridge handle before he got a chance. "Nope!" She said popping the 'p' "I cook remember?" August opened the fridge door and pulled out a box of pancake mix, homemade whip cream she made two days ago for the chocolate lava cake recipe she had made, a carton of strawberries and a bottle of syrup.

Alec grabbed the ingredients from her hands. "You cook for me almost every day, three times a day not including snacks and drinks, you need a break" Alec gave her a contagious smile that August couldn't help but return. She glanced between Alec and the ingredients. August huffed. "Fine" she sighed sitting down on the stool, she didn't have time to rest either way, she still had a handful of emails she had to reply too and Alec had an important gala to attend to next week that she still had to find a dress too. "Stop working" Alec sighed when August picked up typing. August looked at him, confused.

"Why?" She asked.

"Because it's midnight and you need to take a break. Close the laptop and rest for a little bit, you haven't slept in forty eight hours" he chuckled worriedly "you're going to end up passing out if you don't rejuvenate" he sighed.

"I sleep Mr. Sterling, don't worry. I'm not working myself until I die, I know my limits" she chuckled and she did. August was so dead set on finishing her work early that she sometimes forgot to sleep but she'd been setting reminders on her phone, tablet and laptop to get some sleep before she went to work. Mr. Sterling didn't need to know that though or he'll give her a couple of days off and that was the last thing August needed. She was so close to paying her car off fully and she didn't need any days off. She's doing this all for Sophia, August would be able to get Sophia back when she's debt free.

August didn't need any distractions.

August shut the laptop and turned to Mr. Sterling "okay, I'll stop working and I will stay the night but only because I'm too tired to drive home. You happy?"

"Very."

______________

Alec didn't plan for this to happen, but it did. It was hard to have a lover when your life is consumed by work and it got lonely at times. It's why some men choose one night stands over a real relationship because the female would complain too much and become too needy. Alec had had his fair share of one night stands but as the nights went by and the women thinned out, Alec wanted something more. Something worth coming home to.

He owned a four story mansion, complete with an indoor and outdoor pool, a indoor greenhouse, large chef desired kitchen, thirteen bedrooms, fourteen bathrooms, a movie room, library, two living rooms, a den, a basement and a attic. It was a gorgeous and big house but it only held seventeen maids and Alec. No one else to fill the empty space. No children running around, giggling and feeling the halls with laughter, no wife to cuddle up with during cold winters and go swimming with during hot summers. Nothing. No one.

Alec wanted to change that.

He had dated four girls before August came along. Each one of the different from the rest. One was a preppy "daddy's money" kind of girl, the other being a librarian, the next a bartender and the last being a freelance writer and although all of them were beautiful they all missed character.

They had no sense of themselves or anyone else. They were boring to say the least. The librarian only read books and talked about the news, Alec barely had time to spend with the bartender because she was always at work, the freelance writer stayed glued to her laptop and the preppy "daddy's money" girl only wanted to go shopping with Alec's credit card.

He didn't care. He had so much money he'd been looking for ways to waste it.

But then August came along.

In one week Alec knew August was different. She was reserved, kind, strong willed when she needed to be and she was a learner. Being beautiful was an add on.

Alec soon found himself doing the exact opposite of what he'd told her during the end of her interview, growing feelings. But he hid them well, only letting them show when they were in the comfort of his home but August was blind to them and Alec didn't want her to be blind anymore.

Authors Note:

Crappy ending to the chapter but I didn't know where to leave off at.

Things are going to get a little more interesting and trust me, sexual encounters should be showing up in the next couple of chapters.
