August had finished her day off with a bucket load of cheap Chinese food and a nice, comfortable couch to sit on. After purchasing her first SUV, the day became a little hectic for August. She'd visited a furniture store after filling up her car with gas and purchased a bed, couch, tv and coffee stable along with a tv stand and only hours ago was she letting the delivery man in to unload what she'd bought earlier that day. August had been lucky enough to find most of what she needed at a discount furniture store that sold broken or used items to customers looking for cheap furniture. It reminded her of a goodwill but instead of clothes, it was filled with donated furniture.

Some of the items she'd gotten didn't look to used and abused and for that, she was thankful for. It'd last her a few more good years before needing to be replaced. After purchasing her furniture she visited another discount store for bedsheets, pillows, blankets and a lamp and at the end of the day she'd only spent $400 for the furniture and another $150 on her covers and lamp — with the added cost of a soda and candy bar.

August popped open a box of beef low mein and dig her fork into the thick bundle of noodles before stuffing them into her mouth as she opened up her used windows laptop she bought at a pawn shop for two hundred. She typed in "jobs available" before putting in her postal code and setting the mile limit to 20 miles, hopefully giving her enough options. All she needed was something that payed eleven dollars an hour and she'd be good. It wouldn't equal up to much at the end of the month but it was better than nothing and if she had to sacrifice eating a meal every once and awhile then it'd be worth it. August even thought about renting out one of her rooms but she wanted to know the area better before she allowed someone to move in.

Full Time pay: $10 per hour

Immediately August signed up for a full time position. It was close enough to what she needed and it was only 2.5 miles away from her. An easy walk if she really needed to.

Veterinarian position at Volts Pet and Supplies store.

Part time pay: $7.50 per hour.

August skipped over it knowing the only thing she'd be able to contribute to the pet shop was cleaning and they weren't looking for janitors.

Three hours later and August had applied to seven jobs in total, all barely at her preferred pay. August sipped on her sprite as she sighed, closing her laptop and closing her eyes wanting to get some sleep. Tomorrow morning was a new day, she'd be able to hopefully find the right job for her and this time, instead of looking online for job applications she was going to go around and see what she could find. Small jobs like house cleaning, babysitting/pet sitting and errand running was going to be her best bet. Many Youtubers come to LA and she hoped to find a couple of them seeking an assistant even if it was a one time thing. She hoped she didn't have to work two jobs just to pay bills but it was starting to look that way. At least this would start her off.

She'd spent roughly three thousand today, what with her car costing two thousand dollars as the down payment and another five hounded and fifty dollars on her bedroom and living room. She then spent another couple of hundred dollars on getting her a new phone plan and internet set up along with lying off her electricity bill in advance for two months, a months payment of WiFi, her laptop and a small load of groceries.

______________

The street was busy to say the least and August didn't know why. It was the middle of a weekday and yet it seemed like no one had a job and instead magically had the money to go shopping. She groaned as she stepped out of a high end boutique and back into the hot streets of LA. People pushed past her in a haste to catch the next sale before it ends, "great!" She exclaimed "another rejection."

Maybe it was because of the clothes she was wearing, or the birds nest of a hair but all ten places she'd went to seeking a job had turned her down. All of them having already found replacements for the positions supposedly available. She knew it was a lie to get her out the door but they could have at least been truthful.

August stepped to the side of the sidewalk and leaned against the brick wall beside her, she needed a break and maybe something to eat. She'd been going at it all day and it was already 2pm in the afternoon and she'd yet feed herself properly. August glanced around her, looking for a grocery store or diner near by that she could grab a sandwich from and sighed in relief when she saw Starbucks only four building away on the other side of the street. Although they didn't have the best sandwiches, it was still better than nothing and she could eat least grab a slice of banana nut bread and water.

With that thought in mind, August crossed the busy street and headed towards the coffee shop. She'd just reached it when the door opened and a man walked out but her being her clumsy self, tripped and tipped his hot cup of coffee on him. Oh what a day it was, she groaned.
